AMD has launched the Navi 32 XT GPU-powered Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT, offering impressive performance and competitive pricing for the high-end market, potentially shaking up the GPU market.
- Competitive pricing of $499 and $449 respectively
- Impressive speed and affordability
- Potential to shake up the market
Today, AMD is making a significant move in the GPU market with the launch of its latest Navi 3X GPU, the Navi 32. This release includes two models, namely the RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT, which are positioned in the middle of the desktop Radeon RX 7000 lineup. AMD is targeting the high-end market with these cards, offering them at competitive prices of $499 and $449 respectively. This puts them in direct competition with nVidia’s Geforce RTX 4070 ($599) and RTX 4060 Ti 16GB ($499).
On paper, and according to AMD’s own benchmarks, the RX 7800/7700 duo promises impressive speed and affordability. However, there may be more to this story that reviewers will delve into.
The RX 7800 XT is powered by the Navi 32 XT GPU, featuring 60 Compute Units (3840 Stream Processors). It utilizes a multi-chip design with a combination of 5nm GCD and 6nm MCD, boasting an impressive 28.1 billion transistors, surpassing even Navi 21’s 26.8 billion. With a game clock of 2124 MHz and a boost clock of 2430 MHz, the RX 7800 XT offers impressive performance. Early information from board partners suggests that custom models may feature even higher clock speeds.
In terms of memory, the RX 7800 XT comes equipped with 16GB of GDDR6 memory clocked at 19.5 Gbps. With a 256-bit memory bus, this results in a maximum theoretical bandwidth of 624 GB/s. When considering the inclusion of the 64MB Infinity Cache, the bandwidth increases to an impressive 2708 GB/s.
The RX 7700 XT shares the same GPU as its counterpart but with fewer enabled cores. It is configured with 54 Compute Units (3454 Stream Processors) and features a reduced memory capacity of 12GB GDDR6 on a 192-bit bus. The memory speed is slightly lower than the Navi 32 XT, clocked at 18 Gbps, resulting in a bandwidth of 432 GB/s (1995 GB/s with Infinity Cache).
It’s worth noting that the Radeon RX 7700 XT will not be available with AMD’s MBA (Made by AMD) cooler design. Instead, it will be exclusively offered as a partner SKU. On the other hand, the RX 7800 XT will debut with the MBA design and should be accessible through AMD’s official distribution channels.
Overall, the launch of the AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT brings strong competition to NVIDIA’s high-end products. With their impressive specifications and competitive pricing, these GPUs have the potential to shake up the market. Reviewers will undoubtedly dive deeper into their performance and features to provide a comprehensive analysis of their capabilities.
