AMD has just announced two new mid-range GPUs, the Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT, designed for 1440p gaming and featuring the new Navi 32 GPU with up to 60 Compute Units and 16GB of GDDR6 memory.

AMD has just announced its latest mid-range GPUs, the Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT, at Gamescom. These Graphics Cards are designed specifically for 1440p gaming and fill an important gap in AMD’s RDNA3 desktop lineup. The RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT feature a new GPU called Navi 32, which is making its debut in the gaming series.
The Navi 32 GPU boasts impressive specs, including up to 60 Compute Units and a 256-bit memory bus, along with 64MB of Infinity Cache. The RX 7800 XT utilizes the full configuration of this GPU, with 60 CUs, 128 AI Accelerators, and 16GB of GDDR6 memory clocked at 19.5 Gbps over a 256-bit bus. It’s worth noting that this card has fewer cores than the previous-gen RX 6800 XT.
The RX 7700 XT also exceeds expectations with its specifications. It features 54 CUs and 108 AI Accelerators, a significant improvement over the previous-gen RX 6700 XT. This model comes with 12GB of GDDR6 memory across a 192-bit bus, with a slightly lower memory clock of 18 Gbps. The RX 7700 XT also has a higher TBP (Total Board Power) compared to the RX 6700 XT, consuming 245W of power.
In terms of performance, AMD claims that the RX 7800 XT will outperform the Geforce RTX 4070 by an average of 3.5% in 1440p gaming with maximum settings. Some titles even show a 5% to 23% advantage, although games utilizing Ray Tracing may favor the RTX 4070. The RX 7700 XT, on the other hand, is purportedly 12% faster on average compared to the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB card.
It’s worth noting that there won’t be a reference model for the RX 7700 XT, and it will only be available through AIB partners. The RX 7800 XT, on the other hand, will launch with a new dual-fan cooler. Both cards will support DisplayPort 2.1.
