Intel's 15th Gen Arrow Lake processors promise to deliver significant performance improvements with a new CPU, GPU, and process node, making them a highly anticipated addition to the world of processors.

  • Up to 14 cores, including a combination of Lion Cove and Skymont architectures, expected to deliver significant performance improvements
  • Introduction of a GT2 iGPU based on the Battlemage graphics architecture with 320 Execution Units (EU) and 2,560 shaders
  • Utilization of Intel's own 20A 2nm-class process for the CPU tile and TSMC's N3 or N4 process for the iGPU tile, making it one of the most advanced processes in the industry

Intel’s 15th Gen CPUs are set to bring some exciting advancements to the world of processors. With a new CPU, GPU, and a process node, the Arrow Lake lineup promises to be a true “next-gen” offering.

One of the highlights of the high-performance H-series mobility lineup is the inclusion of up to 14 cores, consisting of six P-Cores and eight E-Cores. These cores will be based on the Lion Cove and Skymont architectures, respectively. This combination is expected to deliver significant performance improvements over the previous Redwood Cove and Crestmont cores used in the Meteor Lake CPUs.

But perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the Arrow Lake processors is the GPU. Intel is rumored to be introducing a GT2 iGPU based on the Battlemage graphics architecture. This successor to the Alchemist used by the Arc A-series GPU is expected to feature a massive 320 Execution Units (EU) with 2,560 shaders. However, some industry experts believe that this leap from 128 EUs in the previous generation to 320 EUs in one generation is unlikely, especially if the process node remains the same.

Speaking of process nodes, Intel plans to use its own 20A 2nm-class process for the CPU tile on Arrow Lake. This makes it one of the most advanced processes in the industry, utilizing RibbonFET (GAA) transistors and PowerVia backside delivery. On the other hand, the iGPU tile is rumored to be fabbed on TSMC’s N3 or N4 process node, with some speculation suggesting up to 320 EUs or 2,560 cores. However, a more reasonable expectation would be a 192 EU part with 1,536 shaders.

Regardless of the exact specifications, Intel has its sights set on delivering mobile processors that can compete with nVidia’s RTX 3050 and RTX 4050 in terms of gaming performance. These GPUs are crucial in the gaming laptop market, accounting for a significant portion of mobile GPU sales.

Overall, Intel’s 15th Gen Arrow Lake processors are shaping up to be an exciting addition to the world of CPUs. With advancements in both CPU and GPU technologies, as well as the utilization of advanced process nodes, these processors have the potential to offer significant performance improvements for gaming enthusiasts and power users alike.
