Leaked: Intel’s Lunar Lake-Powered Handheld Gaming PC Boasts Impressive 1200p Display & 64GB LPDDR5 Memory

Intel, the tech giant, seems to have a new trick up its sleeve. A leaked report suggests that the company is working on a handheld gaming PC powered by its upcoming Lunar Lake processors. This exciting development has caught the attention of tech enthusiasts and gamers alike.

Dubbed the GP10, this handheld gaming PC is set to join the ranks of Chinese handhelds in the market. However, what sets it apart is that it will be only the second device to be based on an Intel System on a Chip (SoC). The first one was the MSI Claw, which utilized the Core Ultra “Meteor Lake” processors. Unfortunately, the MSI Claw failed to pose a significant challenge to AMD’s Ryzen Z1 and Z1 Extreme-based products.

While Intel’s graphics drivers have been steadily improving, it is still playing catch-up to AMD in the gaming segment. It may take at least a year or two for Intel to bridge this gap. AMD’s Adrenalin graphics application boasts various game optimization tools, including RSR (Radeon Super Resolution), FMF (Fluid Motion Frames), Radeon Boost, and Anti-Lag. In contrast, Intel’s application currently lacks these features.

Lunar Lake, Intel’s upcoming processor architecture, is expected to succeed Meteor Lake in the high-end mobility segment. It promises an upgraded process node, core architectures, and a powerful Neural Processing Unit (NPU). Rumors suggest that the CPU tile will leverage the Lion Cove and Skymont cores and will be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm (N3B) node. The GPU, based on the Xe3 “Battlemage” graphics architecture, will be a first of its kind. Additionally, the NPU is expected to be 2-3 times faster than its predecessor, Meteor Lake.

PC World managed to obtain the specifications of the Weibo GP10 handheld before the page was taken down. The device is said to feature a 10.95-inch display with a resolution of 1920×1200 and a Refresh Rate of 120Hz. Under the hood, it will be powered by Intel’s Lunar Lake SoC, boasting eight cores clocked at over 4GHz and a generous L3 cache of 14MB or more. The GP10 will also offer LPDDR5 memory with a capacity of up to 64GB, ensuring smooth multitasking and seamless gaming experiences. In terms of storage, users can expect an M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD with PCIe Gen 5 support, offering storage capacities of up to 2TB.

Connectivity-wise, the GP10 will feature wireless capabilities with support for both 802.11ac and 802.11ax standards. As for ports, users can expect a USB-C port, a TF card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. These specifications paint an enticing picture of what Intel’s Lunar Lake-powered handheld gaming PC has to offer.

Weibo, the popular Chinese social media platform, is expected to unveil its first handheld PC at the upcoming Computex event next month. This event might provide further insights into Intel’s Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake processors, leaving tech enthusiasts eagerly awaiting more information.

Intel’s foray into the handheld gaming PC market with the GP10 is undoubtedly an exciting development. While it faces stiff competition from established players like AMD, Intel’s Lunar Lake processors and their impressive specifications indicate that they are ready to make their mark in the gaming segment. Gamers around the world will be eagerly awaiting the official release of the GP10 and hoping that it lives up to the hype surrounding it.
