ASUS ROG Ally handheld now equipped with AMD HYPR-RX support, a game-changer.

AMD has integrated HYPR-RX technology into the ASUS ROG Ally handheld console, offering users an immersive gaming experience with features like RSR, AFMF, Anti-Lag+, and a new 1600x900 resolution.

AMD HYPR-RX technology has made its way into the ASUS ROG Ally handheld console. Powered by the AMD Ryzen Z1 (Extreme) processor, which combines Zen4 and RDNA3 architectures, the ROG Ally offers an immersive gaming experience while keeping power consumption in check. One notable feature is its 1080p 120Hz display, which sets it apart from other handheld devices in terms of resolution and Refresh Rate.

To further enhance the gaming experience, AMD has introduced technologies like RSR (Radeon Super Resolution) and AFMF (AMD Fluid Motion Frames), also known as “Frame Generation” technology. These technologies aim to improve performance and provide a driver-level equivalent to FidelityFX Super Resolution.

With the introduction of HYPR-RX technology, AMD has integrated these technologies and introduced “Anti-Lag+” as a user-friendly, one-click solution for performance enhancement. It’s important to note that Anti-Lag+ had to be removed from the latest driver for discrete GPUs due to issues with certain online titles. However, the ROG Ally uses a separate dedicated driver, allowing users to download the software directly from the ASUS website to enjoy HYPR-RX functionality.

In addition to HYPR-RX support, the update also brings a new resolution option of 1600×900. This resolution strikes a balance between 720p and the native 1080p, offering improved performance without compromising visual quality on a handheld device.

To access these updates, users can download the new 331 BIOS update and AMD graphics driver from the My ASUS application on their system. The update includes optimizations for overall system stability, support for HYPR-RX, support for 1600×900 screen resolution, and bug fixes for game compatibility issues.

HYPR-RX: HYPR-RX is a new feature from AMD that will be available in the first half of 2023. It is a one-click preset that enables various AMD software features to work together to improve gaming performance and reduce latency. Some of the features are AMD Radeon Anti-Lag, AMD Radeon Boost and AMD Radeon Super Resolution (RSR)

RSR: Radeon Super Resolution (RSR) is an in-driver upscaling feature that uses the same algorithm found in our AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) technology. RSR works by upscaling lower resolutions set in-game to the native resolution of the active display, providing higher FPS performance. RSR can be configured globally so the effects will be applied to all compatible games. It can also be separately customized for individual games using AMD Software application profiles.
