Noctua introduces NM-M1 Torx Mounting Kits with SecuFirm2+™ for Enhanced Performance and Convenience

December 12, 2023 by our News Team

Noctua has released new multi-socket mounting kits, the NM-M1-MP83 and NM-M1-MP78, featuring the latest SecuFirm2+™ standard and offset mounting options for improved performance on AMD AM5, AM4, and Intel LGA sockets.

  • The NM-M1 kits are Noctua's most comprehensive multi-socket mounting kits to date, supporting a wide range of upgrading or switching scenarios.
  • The new SecuFirm2+™ standard with Torx T20 screws offers improved contact pressure and durability, making it easier to operate in restricted spaces.
  • The offset mounting bars for AM5 allow for better contact pressure above the processor's hotspot, resulting in significant reductions in CPU temperatures.

Noctua, a manufacturer of CPU Coolers, has launched its latest enthusiast-grade multi-socket mounting kits, the NM-M1-MP83 and NM-M1-MP78. These kits are designed for users who wish to upgrade their Noctua coolers to the new Torx based SecuFirm2+™ standard or to support the latest sockets that their cooler did not originally accommodate.

According to Roland Mossig, CEO of Noctua, the mounting system plays a crucial role in the overall user experience, product safety, and performance of a CPU cooler. Poor contact pressure or contact quality can undermine the effectiveness of an otherwise excellent heatsink. Noctua has always prioritized refining their mounting systems, and the NM-M1 kits are a testament to their commitment. These kits integrate the latest SecuFirm2+™ standard and offer an offset mounting option for improved performance on AMD AM5.

The NM-M1 sets are Noctua’s most comprehensive multi-socket mounting kits to date. They support a wide range of upgrading or switching scenarios, including AMD AM5 and AM4, as well as Intel LGA1851, LGA-1700, LGA1200, LGA1151, LGA1150, LGA1155, and LGA1156. The new SecuFirm2+™ standard replaces Phillips head screws with Torx T20 screws. The Torx drive reduces cam-out, making it easier to operate in restricted spaces. Additionally, the screw heads experience less wear, enhancing durability. The kits come with a magnetic tip NM-SD1 Torx T20 screwdriver, catering to power users who frequently modify their setups.

The NM-M1 kits also include Noctua’s offset mounting bars for AM5. These bars allow users to install the cooler shifted towards the south side of the socket by 7mm, resulting in better contact pressure above the CCD(s). This improved contact at the processor’s hotspot can lead to significant reductions in CPU temperatures, typically ranging from 1-3°C. The kits are available in versions for heatsinks with 83mm and 78mm mounting pitches, enabling upgrades for most Noctua heatsinks since 2005, except for the NH-L9a and NH-L9i series, as well as server and workstation models with larger bases. Both versions are offered in regular and chromax.black variants, with the latter featuring a premium-grade, highly wear-resistant black coating. This makes them perfect for creating all-black builds with Noctua’s chromax.black line coolers.

The NM-M1-MP83 and NM-M1-MP78 kits are now available for purchase through Noctua’s official Amazon stores. The suggested retail prices are EUR 21.90 / USD 21.90 for the regular versions and EUR 24.90 / USD 24.90 for the chromax.black variants.
