Intel is gearing up to release its A580 GPU, which has unexpectedly gone on sale in Japan before its official launch. The A580 GPU was initially introduced last year but faced delays and lacked competitiveness against AMD and nVidia’s latest entry-level models. However, Intel has now given approval to ASRock and Sparkle to release this graphics card. ASRock was particularly eager to launch their version and forgot to inform retailers about the sale embargo date, resulting in a premature sale.
Although there hasn’t been an official announcement, the Arc A580 GPU is already supported by the latest GPU drivers, making it technically usable. However, it is not widely available in stores yet. A well-known hardware leaker managed to obtain a sample of the card from an undisclosed retailer, who listed it for 38,880 JPY in Japan. Comparing this price to the A750 Challenger model from ASRock, which is listed at 55,440 JPY in the same store, the A580 appears to be around 30% cheaper.
Further investigation has revealed that Canadian and US retailers have also started offering the A580 GPU ahead of schedule, with backorder options available. The card is currently listed at $209.96 USD or $274 CAD in these regions. By comparing the prices of the A750 Challenger model on Newegg US ($219) and Newegg Canada (cheapest at $339.99 CAD), it can be deduced that the A580 is still cheaper, although not as significantly as in Japan.
It has been reported that A580 GPUs have already been sent to the press for review. While the exact launch date remains uncertain, Intel has disclosed the full specifications, and pricing can be easily deduced from existing A750 offers and early listings.
