CD Projekt Red is preparing to release the 2.0 patch for Cyberpunk 2077, which will heavily increase CPU utilization and address persistent issues with Ryzen CPUs.
- Cyberpunk 2077 will make full use of multicore CPUs, with 8-core CPUs seeing utilization rates as high as 90%.
- The game will no longer require mods for Ryzen CPUs.
- The Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update will be released this week.
CD Projekt Red developers have confirmed that the highly anticipated 2.0 patch for Cyberpunk 2077 will heavily increase CPU utilization. This news comes as the developers are putting the finishing touches on the game and preparing for the release of the Phantom Liberty expansion.
Filip Pierściński, a leading scene programmer at CD Projekt Red, took to Twitter to share some exciting details about the upcoming patch. One of the game-changing improvements is that Cyberpunk 2077 will finally make full use of multicore CPUs. Specifically, 8-core CPUs may see utilization rates as high as 90%. This utilization level shouldn’t come as a surprise to gamers who are familiar with how much CPU power modern games can consume.
To test system cooling efficiency during extended high-CPU usage, Pierściński even recommends running the Cinebench benchmark. While Cinebench is not typically used as a standard gaming benchmark, it serves as a reminder that many games still struggle to take advantage of the benefits offered by multi-core CPUs.
Another significant improvement in the 2.0 patch is that the game will no longer require mods for Ryzen CPUs. This addresses a persistent issue faced by gamers using Ryzen SMT (hyperthreading) technology. Pierściński also suggests that gamers stick to 8-core SMT configurations but have the flexibility to adjust settings according to their preferences. These optimizations for 8-core CPUs indicate that Cyberpunk 2077 may perform well on Ryzen 7000X3D series processors, thanks to their 3D V-Cache enhancements designed for 8-core clusters.
While the exact release date for the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update is still uncertain, Marcin Momot, Global Community Director at CD Projekt Red, has confirmed that it will be released this week. Gamers can look forward to these CPU support enhancements and other improvements that will enhance their Cyberpunk 2077 experience.
