Radeon Chief Confirms Completion of Radeon RX 7000 Series

In a recent interview following the Gamescom product announcement, Scott Herkleman, AMD’s Senior Vice President & General Manager Graphics Business Unit, provided some insights into the newly launched Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT. These high-end Graphics Cards are priced at $499 and $449, respectively.

One interesting aspect of AMD’s strategy is the decision not to release any models between the RX 7700 XT and RX 7600, which are priced at $269. Herkleman confirmed that this was a deliberate choice by the company.

The conversation then shifted to the future of RDNA3, with Herkleman being asked about any plans for additional products in this series. Surprisingly, it seems that the RDNA3 lineup may have reached its conclusion. AMD has indicated that there are no plans for new models within this generation, and the entire lineup has been finalized.

However, there is still a possibility that AMD may release special editions or variants of existing models. These would not be considered entirely new ASIC/SKU releases. Examples of such cards could include the Avatar Edition or the recently launched RX 7900 GRE in China. It’s important to note that these special releases are unlikely to be part of a global product launch strategy.

When asked about the completion of the RDNA3 portfolio, Herkleman confirmed that the lineup is now complete. While there may be different versions of existing models, they will not be new ASIC/SKU releases. This marks the end of a year-long journey since the launch of the first RDNA3 product.

The fate of the Radeon RX 7000M mobile series was also discussed. So far, AMD has only introduced four entry-level models using the Navi 33 GPU. There had been speculation about the potential use of a smaller Navi 31 chip for mobile devices, as well as the highly anticipated Navi 32 for the RX 7800M series. However, it remains unclear whether these mobile Radeon GPUs will be released or if they were unintentionally omitted from the conversation.

Currently, the Radeon RX 7000 series consists of five global models, along with the RX 7900 GRE, which is currently available in the DIY market in China.

Here are the specifications for the AMD Radeon RX 7000 series:

– RX 7900 XTX

– RX 7900 XTR

– RX 7800 XT

– RX 7700 XT

– RX 7600

These graphics cards are based on the RDNA3 architecture and are manufactured using TSMC’s N6 process. They offer varying GPU clusters, stream processors, boost clocks, memory configurations, and power connectors.

The RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XTR are set to launch on December 13, 2022, while the RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT will be available starting September 6, 2023. The RX 7600 was launched on May 25, 2023.

It’s worth noting that these specifications were sourced from AMD and provided by VideoCardz.com.

In conclusion, AMD’s Radeon Chief has confirmed that the Radeon RX 7000 series is now complete. While there may be special editions or variants in the future, there are no plans for new models within this generation. The fate of the mobile Radeon RX 7000M series remains uncertain.
