Synology has recently launched two highly scalable storage systems, the SA3610 and SA3410, designed to meet the needs of organizations requiring large data volumes without compromising on speed and performance, with features such as remote management, cloud-powered monitoring, file management, data protection, and surveillance solutions.
- Flexible scalability up to 96 drive bays and 1.7 PB of raw storage capacity
- High sequential read/write speeds of over 6,200/3,000 MB/s
- Ease of management with remote management solutions and central management through Synology CMS
Synology, a leading provider of storage solutions, has recently launched two new highly scalable storage systems, the SA3610 and SA3410. These systems are designed to meet the needs of organizations that require large data volumes without compromising on speed and performance.
The SA3610 and SA3410 offer businesses the flexibility to start with 12 drive bays and scale all the way up to 96 drive bays, providing a total raw storage capacity of 1.7 PB. This makes them ideal for handling tasks such as central backup, surveillance, and file servers.
“With stable, high throughput, and plenty of capacity, the new units are perfect for handling large data volumes, including simultaneous backups, archiving, surveillance recordings, or video serving and storage,” said Michael Wang, product manager at Synology Inc. He also highlighted that businesses can start small and expand as their data growth demands it.
In terms of performance, the SA3610 and SA3410 offer impressive sequential read/write speeds of over 6,200/3,000 MB/s. They also support 10/25/40GbE and Fibre Channel networking, providing businesses with flexible connectivity options. Additionally, these storage systems can be configured as hybrid storage arrays, allowing for cost-efficient solutions that optimize I/O speeds and reduce Latency.
Synology has also prioritized ease of management with the SA3610 and SA3410. These systems come with remote management solutions such as a dedicated out-of-band (OOB) management port, central management through Synology CMS, and cloud-powered remote monitoring with Active Insight. This helps reduce administrative overhead and ensures maximum service uptime through hardware redundancy and active-passive clustering.
Furthermore, Synology SA series systems include a suite of reliable file management, sharing, and syncing solutions for businesses. Synology Drive enables anywhere access for file management and sharing tools across various devices. It also facilitates data syncing between devices, making it easier for remote teams and offices to collaborate effectively.
Data protection is another key feature of the SA3610 and SA3410. Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) offers powerful backup solutions for PCs, servers, VMs, and SaaS applications. The Active Backup Suite allows organizations to consolidate backups of various systems onto the SA3610 or SA3410, while managing all backup tasks through a centralized management console. This ensures comprehensive data protection and minimizes service downtime.
Synology’s Surveillance Station is a robust video management system (VMS) designed for businesses. It supports over 8,300 validated IP cameras and can be easily deployed and adjusted to meet the requirements of different locations. With the SA3610 and SA3410, businesses can add up to 128 IP cameras per unit and monitor multiple servers through a built-in central management system.
Overall, the SA3610 and SA3410 storage systems from Synology offer businesses a versatile and reliable solution for managing large data volumes. With their scalability, performance, and comprehensive data protection features, these systems are well-suited for organizations in need of efficient storage solutions.

Technology Explained
Fibre Channel: Fibre Channel, often abbreviated as FC, is a high-speed network technology designed primarily for transmitting data between computers and storage devices. It provides a dedicated and reliable communication channel, typically using fiber optic cables, although copper-based variants also exist. Fibre Channel is known for its exceptional performance, low latency, and high throughput, making it ideal for demanding applications like data centers, storage area networks (SANs), and enterprise-level storage solutions. It supports various topologies, including point-to-point, arbitrated loop, and fabric-based architectures. Despite the advancements in technologies like iSCSI, Fibre Channel remains a prominent choice for organizations requiring robust, secure, and high-performance storage networking.
