AMD Ryzen CPUs have experienced a significant surge in market share among Steam gamers, according to recent data. The company’s market share grew by an impressive 32% in November, following the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. This boost propelled the Ryzen market share to a record high of 33.88%, up from 25.58% in October and 31.19% in September. In contrast, Intel’s CPU market share dropped to 66%, marking its lowest point in recent times due to the disappointing launch of the 14th Gen Core lineup.

When analyzing the market share on Windows PCs, it becomes evident that Intel CPUs across most models experienced a decline, with the exception of higher-end SKUs featuring a base clock of 3.3GHz to 3.69GHz. On the other hand, AMD’s Ryzen processors gained market share across all segments, particularly in the higher-end SKUs with a base clock of 3.3GHz and higher.

Shifting our focus to Linux, AMD continues to dominate with a commanding CPU market share of 70.69%, leaving Intel with a mere 29.30%. Team Ryzen has firmly established its presence in the open-source market, leaving Intel with limited market share. This trend has remained consistent over the past two quarters, with AMD maintaining around 70% of the share.

In the GPU market, nVidia continues to reign supreme among gamers, occupying all top four positions with its Geforce cards. Among Steam gamers, the most popular GPU is the RTX 3060 laptop, followed by the GTX 1650 and the RTX 4060 laptop. As for AMD’s Radeon GPUs, the Radeon RX 6600 takes the lead in popularity, followed by the RX 6700 XT and the 6500 XT.

Interestingly, there is a noticeable absence of next-gen GPUs in the November adoption list, indicating limited market movement and a focus on older, potentially used hardware. Only the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and the GeForce RTX 4090 made it onto the list as next-gen GPUs. The GeForce RTX 4050, 4060, and 4070 mobile variants also garnered some popularity, but the remaining spots were occupied by older pre-RTX Graphics Cards.

Overall, these market share figures highlight AMD’s impressive performance in both the CPU and GPU markets. With a significant surge in Ryzen CPU market share and a dominant position in the open-source market, AMD continues to challenge Intel’s long-standing dominance. Meanwhile, NVIDIA maintains its stronghold in the GPU market, although the absence of next-gen GPUs in the adoption list suggests a preference for older hardware among Steam gamers.
