Seagate Technology, a important player in the field of mass data storage infrastructure solutions, has just launched its latest offering: the Seagate Exos CORVAULT 4U106 mass data storage system. Boasting an impressive capacity of 2.5 PB, this high-performing block storage system is designed to deliver higher rack density, extended lifecycles, and improved power efficiency, all of which contribute to lowering the total cost of ownership (TCO).

At the heart of the Seagate Exos CORVAULT 4U106 lies Seagate’s Exos hard drives, known for their exceptional capacity. When combined with self-healing technology, these drives create an incredibly efficient petabyte storage building block that is ideal for scale-out data center architecture. In fact, this innovative solution can reduce storage networking resources by up to 50% and enhance total rack power efficiency by up to 30%.

One of the standout features of the Seagate Exos CORVAULT 4U106 is its self-healing capabilities, enabled by Seagate’s Autonomous Drive Regeneration (ADR) and Advanced Distributed Autonomic Protection Technology (ADAPT). These technologies not only minimize downtime but also optimize data center resources, such as maintenance and human intervention. As a result, this system not only reduces the carbon footprint and e-waste but also enhances overall operational efficiency.

Alexander Ruebensaal, CEO of ABC Systems AG, highlighted the significance of this solution for organizations with substantial data storage requirements and budget constraints, such as science, research, high-performance computing (HPC), and higher education institutions. By adopting Seagate’s Exos CORVAULT, these institutions have been able to achieve remarkable cost savings of up to 80% annually. This includes significant reductions in technical, operational, service, and maintenance costs when compared to previous solutions. Such substantial savings can then be redirected towards supporting scientists and researchers in their endeavors.

Initially available in a 2PB conventional magnetic recording (CMR)-based configuration, the Seagate Exos CORVAULT 4U106 will soon expand its lineup to include 2PB and 2.5PB Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR)-based configurations. Interested customers can place orders for both capacities in the new configurations through storage resellers worldwide starting in November, with product availability expected by the end of December.
