  • Intel Core Ultra 9 processors may be delayed until 2024
  • Core Ultra 9 185H is rumored to offer 6 P-Cores, 8 E-Cores, and 2 E-Cores in the SoC die

Rumors are circulating about the release of Intel’s Core Ultra 9 processors, with Chinese media outlet “Golden Pig Upgrade” claiming that the initial lineup may not include the 9 models. This news comes after the same outlet was the first to reveal the upcoming Intel Core Ultra CPUs, some of which have already been confirmed through early testing on platforms like Geekbench. According to the post on Weibo, it is now expected that the launch of Core 9 SKUs for Meteor Lake will be delayed until 2024.

Currently, Intel is focusing on four models for comparison: the Ryzen 7 7840HS, the Core i9-13900H, the upcoming Core Ultra 5 125H, and the Core Ultra 7 155H. Notably, there is no mention of the Ultra 7 165H or Ultra 9 185H, with the latter potentially being considered for gaming Laptops.

The absence of Core 9 in the initial Meteor Lake lineup should not come as a surprise. The new mobile platform is set to launch on December 14th, with CES just around the corner in early January. Many companies may prefer to keep their next-gen systems featuring premium hardware a secret until the official announcement at the consumer expo in Las Vegas.

It is worth noting that there is a possibility of GPU makers introducing new mobile GPU models, although there is currently no evidence to support this claim. It is more likely that any delays or embargoes are related to CES and Intel’s production plans.

As of now, only one Core 9 SKU has been mentioned, which is the Ultra 9 185H. This CPU is rumored to offer 6 P-Cores, 8 E-Cores, and 2 E-Cores in the SoC die. It is reported to boost up to 5.1 GHz and should operate within a 45W power target.

Overall, while the delay of Core Ultra 9 processors may disappoint some, it is important to remember that these rumors are not confirmed. We will have to wait for official announcements from Intel to get a clearer picture of what to expect from their upcoming lineup.
