Lenovo is set to fulfill its promise of releasing the first non-Valve device with the SteamOS system. The company has confirmed that its Lenovo Legion Go S will be available for purchase on May 25th, bringing the SteamOS system along with it.
According to The Verge, sales are expected to begin in the US at select official retailers, but it remains unclear if the same will hold true for other regions. As for the price, the final selling price is expected to be slightly higher than initially indicated by Lenovo, coming in at $549.99 per unit. Originally, the manufacturer had stated a price $50 lower.
In terms of specifications, the Legion Go S features an AMD Ryzen Z2 Go processor, an 8-inch 120Hz display, an ergonomic control system, and 16GB of internal RAM. For those looking for a little more power, the advanced model is available for $749.99, equipped with an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor and 32GB of RAM.
Both models will come with a customized version of SteamOS as the base operating system, offering similar capabilities to the SteamDeck console. Players will have direct access to the Valve platform and can enjoy all the available titles. It’s worth noting that Lenovo had already released a version of the Legion Go S in February, but it came with the Windows 11 operating system.
As mentioned earlier, it is still unknown if the same release date will apply to markets outside the US.
