EK, a leading manufacturer of premium Liquid Cooling gear, is thrilled to announce the full compatibility of their EK-Quantum Velocity² D-RGB 1700 and Magnitude 1700 water blocks with Intel’s recently launched 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs and the upcoming Z790 motherboards. The Raptor Lake refresh series CPUs offer faster cores, enhancing multi-tasking, gaming, streaming, and more, with speeds of up to 6 GHz and unparalleled overclocking capabilities. To achieve these high frequencies, a capable cooling solution is essential, which is where EK’s Quantum water blocks excel.
The EK-Quantum Velocity² water blocks are the first in EK’s product line to feature EK-Matrix7 compatibility, a feature that has received numerous design and performance accolades since its launch.
These water blocks utilize a socket-specific cooling engine to ensure optimal performance and low flow restrictions on every platform. As the Z790X platform is based on the LGA-1700 socket, the EK-Quantum Velocity² 1700 water blocks are fully compatible with the CPU socket and IHS geometry of Intel’s 14th Gen Core CPUs. Similarly, the EK-Quantum Magnitude 1700 perfectly fits the Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs.
The EK-Quantum Velocity² D-RGB 1700 features EK’s next-generation CPU water block cooling engine, specifically designed for the LGA 1700 socket. The mounting pressure and cold plate geometry are meticulously crafted to suit the IHS and die layout of Intel processors, ensuring superior performance with minimal hydraulic flow restriction. The coldplate covers the IHS effectively and exerts optimal pressure on the die area.
The EK-Quantum Velocity² water blocks employ a patent-pending EK-Exact Mount mounting system, which aims to provide an aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly mounting mechanism. Consisting of only two pieces – the backplate and the water block itself – the system is screwed in from the back, resulting in a seamless and clean front look without any visible screws. The pre-tensioned springs concealed in the water block top allow for easy installation and precise mounting pressure adjustment with just a few turns of the thumb nuts.
The LGA 1700 version of the EK-Quantum Velocity² water block is available in seven variants, including Nickel + Plexi, Nickel + Acetal, Full Nickel, Nickel + Satin Titanium, Copper + Acetal, Nickel + Gold, and Lignum Edition – Walnut.
The coldplate of the EK-Quantum Velocity² water blocks is crafted from high-grade electrolytic copper and undergoes precision machining to optimize contact and heat transfer. Nickel plating is applied to the copper, except for the Copper + Acetal version, which features a bare copper coldplate.
Certified as an EK-Matrix7 product, the EK-Quantum Velocity² adheres to the EK-Matrix7 standard, which revolutionizes PC liquid cooling. The precise 7mm increments in product height and port distance streamline product alignment, reducing loop planning and tube bending time. This meticulous product design allows liquid-cooling enthusiasts to enjoy a hassle-free and enjoyable process of building a liquid-cooled PC.
The EK-Quantum Magnitude 1700 is specifically engineered for LGA-1700 socket-based Intel Core CPUs. It has been awarded the prestigious iF Design award for its unique CPU water block mounting mechanism. Unlike traditional black and mundane plates, the EK-Quantum Magnitude 1700 features an integrated three-dimensional X-shaped frame with premium finishes that securely holds the main body in place, while the screws are transformed into sophisticated design details.
Both the EK-Quantum Velocity² – 1700 and EK-Quantum Magnitude – 1700 series CPU water blocks are socket-specific and compatible only with Intel LGA 1700 socket CPUs, including the 12th, 13th, and 14th generation of Intel Core processors.
The EK-Quantum Velocity² series water blocks are manufactured in Slovenia, Europe, and can be ordered through the EK Webshop and Partner Reseller Network. The table provided displays the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) with VAT included.
Overall, EK’s latest water blocks offer exceptional cooling performance and compatibility for Intel’s 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs, ensuring optimal overclocking capabilities for enthusiasts and gamers alike.

Liquid Cooling: Liquid cooling is a technology used to cool down computer components, such as processors, graphics cards, and other components that generate a lot of heat. It works by circulating a liquid coolant, such as water or a special coolant, through a series of pipes and radiators. The liquid absorbs the heat from the components and then dissipates it into the air. This technology is becoming increasingly popular in the computer industry due to its ability to provide more efficient cooling than traditional air cooling methods. Liquid cooling can also be used to overclock components, allowing them to run at higher speeds than their rated speeds. This technology is becoming increasingly popular in the gaming industry, as it allows gamers to get the most out of their hardware.
