MSI has released the Z790 ACE MAX motherboard, offering easy overclocking options for Intel's upcoming 14th Gen Core "Raptor Lake Refresh" CPUs, with the potential to reach 6.3 GHz with 1-click presets.
- MSI Z790 ACE MAX offers options beyond 6 GHz
- Intel Core i9-14900K will bring a 6.0 GHz clock speed to a wider audience
- MSI Z790 MAX motherboards are already available in stores
MSI has launched its latest motherboard, the Z790 ACE MAX, which promises easy overclocking options for upcoming CPUs. As part of the MAX series refresh, this motherboard brings several design, functionality, and connectivity changes. It serves as the final update for the LGA-1700 platform before Intel transitions to the new LGA-1851 socket. With this release, motherboard manufacturers like MSI aim to leave a lasting impression.
MSI is particularly focused on simplifying the overclocking process for Intel K-series CPUs, specifically the upcoming 14th Gen Core “Raptor Lake Refresh.” While this feature seems to be exclusive to the enthusiast-level MEG ACE series within the Z790 MAX boards, it showcases the potential of the upcoming platform. A screenshot shared by hardware leaker chi11eddog reveals that the MSI MEG Z790 ACE MAX offers options beyond 6 GHz.
It’s worth noting that Intel’s Core i9-14900k and KF models will be the first CPUs capable of reaching 6.0 GHz without belonging to the “Special Edition KS” series. Currently, Intel’s Core i9-13900KS is the only desktop SKU that offers such high clock speeds at a premium price, making it the top choice for enthusiasts.
The Core i9-14900K will bring a 6.0 GHz clock speed to a wider audience through the Thermal Velocity Boost feature, catering to those who don’t plan on overclocking. However, for enthusiasts seeking even greater overclocking potential, companies like MSI suggest the possibility of reaching a frequency of 6.3 GHz with simple 1-click presets.
Intel’s Raptor Lake Refresh is scheduled for release in October, while MSI Z790 MAX motherboards are already available in stores. It’s important to note that the ACE MAX model comes with a price tag of $699, which is approximately 15% higher than the original ACE design at launch.
