Intel’s upcoming 14th Gen Core “Raptor Lake Refresh” was noticeably absent from Intel’s recent Innovation 2023 event, which focused on Meteor Lake and AI developments. However, the launch of the series is still on track for October, and one of the initial products is the Intel Core i9-14900KF. This 24-core CPU boasts an impressive 6.0 GHz clock boost out of the box, although it does lack integrated graphics support.
Interestingly, the Core i9-14900KF has already made its mark in the PassMark rankings, a site that compiles data on CPUs across various categories. With a score of 4,939 points, it has claimed the top position, surpassing previous leaders like the i9-13900KS and i9-13900K. It’s worth noting that the i9-13900KS also features a 6.0 GHz clock speed, and the 14900KF achieved its score using relatively modest DDR5-5600 memory.
In terms of multi-core performance, the 14900KF falls just slightly short compared to the 13900K, with only a 0.6% difference. However, it does lag behind the 13900KS. While Intel’s Core i9 CPUs dominate the single-core CPU Mark rankings, AMD Ryzen 9 processors take the lead in multicore performance.
The Intel Core i9-14900k and KF variants are set to debut next month on October 17th, with preorders starting a day earlier. This launch will include a total of six models in the 125W unlocked Core-K series lineup. Additionally, Intel plans to introduce 65W non-K models in January.
It’s worth mentioning that the Intel 14th Gen Core series will mark the end of the LGA-1700 platform, as Intel prepares to transition to the LGA-1851 socket in the coming year.
