AMD's highly anticipated FSR3 technology is set to launch on September 29th, bringing Fluid Motion Frames (FMF) and up to a 3.4x increase in frame rates to Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs.

  • FSR3 brings Fluid Motion Frames (FMF), AMD's response to DLSS3 Frame Generation.
  • By leveraging Anti-Lag+ on RX 7000 series GPUs, this approach promises up to a 3.4x increase in frame rates.
  • AMD has expressed its intention to eventually make FSR3 technology open source.

FSR3, the highly anticipated technology from AMD Radeon, is finally set to launch on September 29th, almost a year after its initial announcement. This news holds great significance for Radeon RX 7000 series GPU users who have been eagerly awaiting its arrival. Back in November 2022, AMD unveiled FSR3 and HYPR-RX as standout features for the upcoming RDNA3 series. However, the release of these technologies faced unexpected delays.

While HYPR-RX was introduced with the September drivers, the exact release date of FSR3 remained a mystery until now. Frank Azor, from AMD, confirmed through a tweet that FSR3 will make its debut in games starting tomorrow. Although he didn’t mention the specific games, AMD has confirmed that Forspoken and Immortals of Avenum will be among the first titles to feature FSR3.

FSR3 brings Fluid Motion Frames (FMF), AMD’s response to DLSS3 Frame Generation. By leveraging Anti-Lag+ on RX 7000 series GPUs, this approach promises up to a 3.4x increase in frame rates, according to AMD’s provided figures. It’s worth noting that FSR3 with FMF will be compatible with Radeon RX 5700/RTX 20 series and newer GPUs, while the FSR3 upscaling component without FMF will be available for RX 590/GTX 10 series GPUs and newer.

In an interesting move, AMD has expressed its intention to eventually make FSR3 technology open source. This could potentially pave the way for its adaptation and implementation on other GPU platforms in the future. Stay tuned for more updates on FSR3 as it makes its way into the gaming world.
