Synology, a leading provider of network-attached storage (NAS) solutions, has recently introduced a new extended warranty plan called Extended Warranty Plus. This plan offers customers the opportunity to extend their device’s original limited warranty by two years, providing up to five years of comprehensive support for both hardware and software-related issues.

With Extended Warranty Plus, customers can enjoy a more convenient support process and longer coverage for their products. Rosiel Lee, Director at Synology, explained, “Building on the success of our previous extended warranty programs, Extended Warranty Plus makes it easier for customers to effectively protect their products thanks to longer coverage and a more convenient support process.”

One of the key features of this new plan is the direct replacement option. Customers can now directly contact Synology when dealing with returns, making the process faster and more efficient. Additionally, advanced replacement options are available, allowing customers to receive a replacement unit before shipping back the faulty one. This option even offers next business day delivery, minimizing waiting times and ensuring service continuity.

By receiving an early replacement, customers can speed up their recovery process by migrating their essential data and services to a functioning unit sooner. This provides peace of mind and demonstrates Synology’s commitment to supporting their customers every step of the way.

Extended Warranty Plus is currently available in select European countries and North America. Customers can activate this plan within 90 days from the date of device purchase through their Synology Account dashboard or directly from DSM (7.1 version and above). To further extend eligibility, Synology is offering a promotional offer valid until August 31, 2022, for devices that are still covered by the original limited warranty.

Technology Explained

NAS: Network Attached Storage (NAS) is a specialized storage device or server that provides centralized data storage and access over a network, usually using Ethernet connections. NAS systems are designed to offer a convenient and efficient way to store and share files among multiple users or devices within a home or office environment. Unlike traditional storage solutions, NAS devices operate independently and have their own operating systems and management interfaces. They are characterized by easy setup and configuration, making them accessible even to users with limited technical expertise. NAS devices can offer various features, including data redundancy through RAID configurations, remote access over the internet, automatic backup, media streaming, and even application hosting in some advanced models. As a versatile and user-friendly storage solution, NAS has become a popular choice for both personal and small business use.
