Microsoft acknowledges issue with Ubisoft games on Windows 11, raising concerns among gamers.

Just a few days ago, Ubisoft released an update for the game Star Wars Outlaws, bumping it up to version 1.4.0. This update came in at a hefty size of nearly 9 GB on PC, 10 GB on XBOX, and 7.44 GB on Playstation 5. However, it’s the PC version that quickly ran into some issues.

After the update was rolled out, several users on Windows 11 systems started reporting game crashes, forcing Ubisoft to release the 1.4.1 update as a hotfix. But today, Microsoft dropped a bombshell by confirming that it will block new Windows updates on systems with certain recent Ubisoft games due to compatibility problems.

A bug is affecting several Ubisoft games, causing them to fail to launch with the latest Windows updates. The affected games include Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Star Wars Outlaws, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. In some cases, users may even encounter dreaded blue screens of death, bringing their entire system to a grinding halt.

To prevent the issues from spreading to more users, Microsoft has decided to suspend Windows 11 updates on systems with these Ubisoft titles installed. It’s a tough blow for gamers who were looking forward to both the latest Windows features and their favorite Ubisoft titles.

Unfortunately, there’s no fix available at the moment from either Microsoft or Ubisoft. It’s possible that updates addressing these problems will be released in the coming days, but for now, users are advised to hold off on updating to the latest versions of Windows if they want to continue playing these games.

It’s a frustrating situation for gamers who just want to enjoy their favorite titles without any hiccups. Let’s hope that both Microsoft and Ubisoft work swiftly to resolve these compatibility issues and get players back in the game. In the meantime, it’s a good idea to keep an eye out for any official announcements or patches that may provide a solution.
