- First commercial solution for testing JEDEC's GDDR7 specification
- Utilizes PAM3 modulation technology for greater power efficiency and increased data transmission bandwidth
- Comprehensive suite of analog characterization features for AC characterization and conformance testing
Introspect Technology, a respected member of JEDEC and a leading manufacturer of test and measurement instruments, has made waves in the tech world with its latest announcement. The company has officially shipped the M5512 GDDR7 Memory Test System, making it the world’s first commercial solution for testing JEDEC’s newly established JESD239 Graphics Double Data Rate (GDDR7) SGRAM specification. This solution is set to revolutionize the work of graphics memory engineers, GPU design engineers, product engineers, and system integrators by providing them with a comprehensive tool for bringing up new GDDR7 memory devices, debugging protocol errors, characterizing signal integrity, and conducting detailed memory read/write functional stress testing.
The GDDR7 specification represents the latest industry standard in the pursuit of high-bandwidth and high-capacity memory implementations for graphics processing, artificial intelligence (AI), and AI-intensive networking. What sets GDDR7 apart is its utilization of pulse-amplitude modulation (PAM) and its superior signal to noise ratio compared to other PAM4 standards used in networking. By employing GDDR7’s PAM3 modulation technology, engineers can achieve greater power efficiency while significantly increasing data transmission bandwidth over constrained electrical channels.
Dr. Mohamed Hafed, CEO at Introspect Technology, expressed his excitement about the company’s contribution to the GDDR7 deployment efforts. “In its quest to support the industry on GDDR7 deployment, Introspect Technology has worked tirelessly in the last few years with JEDEC members to develop the M5512 GDDR7 Memory Test System,” he noted. “Throughout our existence, we’ve thrived on creating unique test solutions for equally unique high-speed interface standards, and the GDDR7 standard is definitely unique! We’re thrilled to be part of the ecosystem supporting such a transformative technology.”
The M5512 GDDR7 Memory Test System is an impressive bench-top test and measurement instrument that showcases Introspect Technology’s extensive experience in building high-performance and compact test instruments. With 72 high-performance pins, each capable of operating at 40 Gbps in PAM3 mode, this system offers unparalleled capabilities. Each pin features bidirectional circuitry for seamless read and write operations, as well as a comprehensive suite of analog characterization features, including femto-second resolution skew injection, millivolt resolution voltage control, programmable jitter injection, and other critical eye margining features essential for AC characterization and conformance testing. Furthermore, the system includes integrated device power supplies with precision power sequencing and ramping controls, making it an all-inclusive solution capable of performing both AC characterization and memory functional stress testing on any GDDR7 device. Additionally, thanks to the highly flexible Pinetree environment, the M5512 can also be deployed for GDDR7 memory controller testing and memory PHY testing.
The M5512 GDDR7 Memory Test System is part of Introspect Technology’s innovative M Series product line, which focuses on massively parallel products designed for testing high data rate, high channel count devices and systems. The system is already available for purchase, with interested parties able to contact Introspect Technology’s global sales partners or reach out directly at [email protected] to secure their own unit.
Introspect Technology’s M5512 GDDR7 Memory Test System is undoubtedly a game-changer in the world of graphics memory testing. With its comprehensive capabilities and features, it is poised to empower engineers and designers in their pursuit of next-generation technology.

Technology Explained
GDDR7: GDDR7 (Graphics Double Data Rate 7) is the seventh generation of graphics double data rate (GDDR) memory. It is a type of dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) that is specifically designed for use in graphics cards. GDDR7 memory offers a number of advantages over previous generations of GDDR memory. GDDR7 is a significant improvement over previous generations of GDDR memory. It offers faster speeds up to 32 gigabits per second (Gbps) per pin, lower power consumption, and improved error correction. This makes it ideal for use in high-performance graphics cards and other applications that require high bandwidth and low latency.
