Dell Technologies is making a bold move into the AI era with its upcoming portfolio of commercial AI Laptops and mobile workstations. The company aims to enhance organizations’ productivity and bring them into the future with its comprehensive range of AI PCs. According to Patrick Moorhead, founder and CEO of Moor Insights & Strategy, the timing couldn’t be better, as the PC market is experiencing a refresh cycle and new capabilities are emerging.

Sam Burd, president of Client Solutions Group at Dell Technologies, believes that every competitive company will need to implement AI in some form, and AI PCs will play a central role in this transformation. From running complex AI workloads on workstations to using AI-powered applications on laptops, AI PCs will be a crucial investment that boosts productivity and paves the way for a smarter future. Dell’s advantage lies in offering a wide range of AI PCs across its commercial portfolio, allowing customers to future-proof their businesses from day one.

One of the key features of Dell’s AI PCs is the neural processing unit (NPU), which is equipped with an AI acceleration engine. This NPU offloads dedicated AI tasks from the CPU and GPU, resulting in a more responsive experience and improved performance, security, battery life, and productivity. Dell’s new line-up of Latitude laptops and Precision mobile workstations will provide customers with a diverse range of options, from entry-level to ultra-premium devices. Powered by Intel Core Ultra processors with Intel vPro, these commercial PCs enable AI workloads and unlock new levels of efficiency.

The benefits of Dell’s AI PCs are numerous. Employees can collaborate more effectively thanks to the NPU’s capabilities, such as auto-framing, background blur, and eye-tracking, combined with the power efficiency of Intel Core Ultra processors. This combination provides up to 38% more battery life and allows workers to make the most out of their busy days filled with Zoom calls. Content creation is also accelerated, as AI processing is distributed across the CPU, GPU, and NPU, enabling users to generate AI images over five times faster with Stable Diffusion, a text-to-image model.

Security is a top concern in today’s hybrid work environment, and Dell is addressing this by collaborating with Intel and CrowdStrike to offload security functions onto the device via the NPU. This approach enhances threat detection and allows customers to swiftly identify malicious sites and security vulnerabilities with reduced Latency compared to cloud-based solutions.

Dell is also focused on providing AI-powered, automated services to its customers. The company’s ProSupport Suite for PCs offers self-healing capabilities through Dell’s SupportAssist technology. This means that PC issues can be fixed without human intervention, thanks to telemetry and AI. Dell-authored scripts can autonomously correct blue screen errors, thermal issues, and more across an entire fleet of PCs, maximizing uptime and improving productivity. Additionally, Dell’s managed services help customers keep their PC fleet refreshes on track and on budget by providing detailed planning, forecasting, and supply chain management.

The new Latitude portfolio from Dell includes the Latitude 7350 Detachable, which is touted as the world’s most collaborative commercial detachable. It offers professionals the flexibility to work fully docked at their desks or on-the-go as a tablet or laptop. The device features an 8MP HDR camera that delivers high-quality pictures even in challenging lighting conditions. The Latitude portfolio also includes updates across the 5000, 7000, and 9000 series, including the Latitude 7350/7450 Ultralights, which are the world’s lightest 13.3″ and 14″ premium commercial laptops.

Dell’s new mobile and fixed Precision workstations cater to power users, developers, and beyond. These workstations provide the necessary power to run complex AI workloads securely and cost-effectively on the PC. The headset also features advanced smart sensors that perform tasks like mute/unmute and pause/play when either earcup is lifted, along with intuitive touch controls for a tailored audio experience.

The new Latitude devices are the first commercial PCs to use recycled cobalt in their batteries, showcasing Dell’s dedication to using recycled materials and minerals in its products. The Latitude 7350 Detachable, inspired by Concept Luna, is designed to be the world’s most serviceable commercial detachable, making it easier to repair and prolonging its lifespan. Additionally, Dell offers recovery and recycling services to help customers properly retire their IT equipment, reducing e-waste and keeping products and materials in circulation for longer.
