In a recent announcement, AMD revealed its plans to expand its client-based ML Development offering with the release of AMD ROCm 6.0. This move comes as a continuation of the company’s support for AI researchers and ML engineers, following their previous support for the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT, XTX, and Radeon PRO W7900 GPUs.

With the introduction of AMD ROCm 6.0, AI enthusiasts can now develop on Radeon PRO W7800 and Radeon RX 7900 GRE GPUs, further expanding the range of options available to them. To enhance their solution stack, AMD has also added support for ONNX Runtime. ONNX, short for Open Neural Network Exchange, serves as an intermediary framework for converting AI models between different ML frameworks. This integration enables users to perform inference on a wider range of source data on local AMD hardware. Additionally, AMD ROCm 6.0 introduces INT8 via MIGraphX, AMD’s graph inference engine, thereby expanding the available data types to include FP32, FP16, and INT8.
