Micron Technology has unveiled its 32Gb monolithic die-based 128 GB DDR5 RDIMM memory, offering best-in-class speed of up to 8000 MT/s and improved performance and data handling for mission-critical applications in data centers and cloud environments.

Micron Technology, a leading provider of memory solutions, has unveiled its latest breakthrough in memory technology with the announcement of its 32Gb monolithic die-based 128 GB DDR5 RDIMM memory. This cutting-edge memory module boasts impressive performance capabilities, including a best-in-class speed of up to 8000 MT/s, making it ideal for data center workloads, AI applications, and in-memory databases.

The new 128 GB DDR5 RDIMM memory from Micron is designed to meet the demanding requirements of mission-critical applications in data centers and cloud environments. With its high capacity and high-speed capabilities, it offers improved performance and data handling for multithreaded, multicore count general compute workloads. Micron’s 1β technology powers this memory module, delivering several key enhancements over competitive products.

These enhancements include a more than 45% improvement in bit density, up to 24% improved energy efficiency, up to 16% lower Latency, and up to a 28% improvement in AI training performance. These impressive improvements set a new standard for high-capacity, high-speed memory in the data center.

Micron’s 32Gb DDR5 memory solution incorporates innovative die architecture choices that maximize array efficiency and achieve the densest monolithic DRAM die. Furthermore, voltage domain and refresh management features optimize the power delivery network, resulting in significant energy efficiency improvements. The die-dimension aspect ratio has also been optimized to enhance manufacturing efficiency.

Micron’s 128 GB RDIMMs will be available in platforms capable of 4800 MT/s, 5600 MT/s, and 6400 MT/s in 2024. They will also be designed into future platforms with speeds of up to 8000 MT/s.
