As the holiday season draws near, Playstation enthusiasts have reason to rejoice. Sony has announced the launch of a new PS5 model that promises to cater to the evolving needs of players. With input from their engineering and design teams, Sony has developed a new form factor that offers greater choice and flexibility.

The new PS5 model retains all the technology features that have made it a standout gaming console. However, it now comes in a smaller form factor, making it more compact and convenient. Additionally, it includes an attachable Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive and a 1TB SSD for increased internal storage.

One of the most notable improvements is the reduction in size and weight. The new PS5 model is more than 30% smaller in volume and 18% to 24% lighter compared to its predecessors. It features four separate cover panels, with the top portion sporting a glossy look while the bottom remains matte.

For those who opt for the PS5 Digital Edition, the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive can be purchased separately at a later date for SGD 159 / MYR 529 / IDR 1,839,000 / THB 3,790.

The new PS5 model will be available starting this November in the U.S. at select local retailers and direct.playstation.com where available. It will subsequently roll out globally in the following months. Once the current PS5 model’s inventory is depleted, the new PS5 will become the sole option available.

The new PS5 model comes with a horizontal stand included. Additionally, a new Vertical Stand compatible with all PS5 models will be available for purchase separately.

This includes an all-matte Black colorway and the Deep Earth Collection colors in Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver.
