AMD has released a new preview driver (23.30) for their Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) technology, extending support to the Radeon RX 6000 and RX 7000 series for improved smoothness and image quality in games like A Plague Tale – Requiem, Borderlands 3, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Releases Preview Driver for Fluid Motion Frames Technology
- AMD has been attentive to user feedback and is excited to bring AMD Fluid Motion Frames support to the Radeon RX 6000 Series with this latest update.
- The driver is available for download now from the AMD website.
- Users can utilize HYPR-RX technology as a global setting or configure it on an individual basis for each game through Adrenalin software profiles.
AMD has just released a new preview driver for their Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) technology, specifically for the Radeon RX 6000 series. This driver update expands AFMF support to both desktop and mobile graphics series based on this architecture. It’s worth noting that while the driver may install on other hardware, it may not have full AFMF support.
AFMF technology works by incorporating Frame Generation technology into games that don’t fully support FSR3 technology. The great thing about AFMF is that game developers don’t need to provide specific support for it, as it operates independently at the driver level. However, it’s important to mention that AFMF won’t include the upscaling component from FSR3; it focuses solely on offering the frame generation feature.
AMD has been attentive to user feedback and is excited to bring AMD Fluid Motion Frames support to the Radeon RX 6000 Series with this latest update to the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition Preview Driver. The driver is available for download now from the AMD website.
While AFMF support now extends to both the RX 6000 and RX 7000 series, there’s no confirmation yet on whether it will be available for other architectures. Additionally, AFMF technology is exclusive to AMD drivers and won’t work with Geforce and Intel architectures. However, if AFMF gains popularity, competing companies may feel compelled to offer similar alternatives.
The new driver, labeled as 23.30, focuses on improving smoothness and image quality. Although there’s no mention of new games being added, the current list of titles that support AFMF includes A Plague Tale – Requiem, Borderlands 3, Control, Dead Space, Deep Rock Galactic, Dying Light 2, Far Cry 6, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Hitman 3, Hogwarts Legacy, Horizon Zero Dawn, Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, Red Dead Redemption 2, Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 4, Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Starfield, The Last of Us Part 1, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
To enable AFMF, users can utilize HYPR-RX technology as a global setting or configure it on an individual basis for each game through Adrenalin software profiles. The latter option offers more flexibility and allows for experimentation, which is particularly useful since this is a preview driver and not a final release.
