CableMod recently released an update to their angled adapters, designed to address issues associated with NVIDIA's 12VHPWR cables, which feature a slim profile, reinforced PCB design, multi-layered cooling solution, and two variants to accommodate different power port orientations.
- The angled adapters effectively resolved the problem of excessive space required before bending the cables.
- CableMod responded promptly to user concerns by assisting affected users through RMA claims and even offering refunds for entire GPUs if necessary.
- The new 1.1 revision boasts a slim profile, protruding only 21mm from the graphics card, allowing for increased space and clearance between the GPU and side panel.
CableMod recently released an update to their highly anticipated angled adapters, which were designed to address the issues associated with nVidia’s 12VHPWR cables. These adapters gained a lot of attention and were distributed to influencers in order to persuade RTX 40 users to adopt this innovative solution.
Initially, users were quick to switch to the angled adapters as they effectively resolved the problem of excessive space required before bending the cables. This often forced users to leave their side panels open, which was not ideal. However, as time went on, reports started to emerge of issues with the adapters, including overheating and melting cables.
CableMod responded promptly to these concerns by assisting affected users through RMA claims and even offering refunds for entire GPUs if necessary. Unfortunately, some GPU makers started rejecting claims from users who were using CableMod adapters.
Acknowledging the increased failure rate associated with the angled adapter design, CableMod announced a new revision, version 1.1, aimed at rectifying all the issues of the initial version. This update brings the adapter standard up to PCI SIG CEM 5.1 specifications, ensuring a tighter and more secure connection.
The new 1.1 revision boasts a slim profile, protruding only 21mm from the graphics card, allowing for increased space and clearance between the GPU and side panel. Unlike traditional 90-degree cable connectors, CableMod’s angled adapters use a reinforced PCB design that eliminates the need for wire bending, ensuring full contact with all cable terminals and reducing the risk of thermal issues.
To maintain peak performance, the angled adapters feature a multi-layered cooling solution, including a 2oz copper PCB with applied copper foil for heat dissipation. This, combined with a thermal pad and quality aluminum shell, helps keep temperatures in check even under continuous loads.
The CableMod 12VHPWR 90 Degree Angled Adapter comes in two variants to accommodate different power port orientations. Additionally, for those with tight space requirements, there is a 180-degree angled adapter option that routes the cable above the graphics card.
Existing users who purchased the 1.0 version of the angled adapter may be eligible for a €40/$40 coupon that can be used towards the purchase of the 1.1 version. This offer is valid for adapters purchased through official CableMod stores.
While it remains to be seen if the revised version will experience fewer issues compared to the initial design, CableMod is committed to ensuring their adapters are as user-friendly as possible. Their reputation is on the line, and they are determined to deliver a reliable and efficient solution for users dealing with high-power components.

PCB: Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) are the backbone of the modern computer industry. They are thin boards made of a non-conductive material, such as fiberglass, with a thin layer of copper on top. This copper layer is etched with a pattern of electrical pathways that connect the various components of a computer together. PCBs are used in almost every electronic device, from computers to cell phones, and are essential for the functioning of these devices. They provide a reliable and efficient way to connect the components of a computer, allowing for faster and more reliable communication between them. The use of PCBs has revolutionized the computer industry, allowing for smaller, faster, and more reliable computers.
