Samsung rumored to outshine Apple in chip war with 2nm technology.

March 31, 2025 by our News Team

Rumors suggest that Samsung and Apple are both working on 2nm processors for their future devices, with Samsung possibly releasing their Exynos 2600 in the Galaxy S26 lineup and Apple potentially featuring their 2nm chips in the iPhone 18, while Qualcomm is also making progress in this technology.

  • The latest processors for mobile devices are being produced in 3nm, which means faster and more efficient performance.
  • Samsung and Apple are both making significant progress in producing 2nm technology, which will have several advantages over current models.
  • The future generation of Qualcomm processors, specifically the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 3, may come with integrated 2nm architecture, leading to improved performance and efficiency.

The latest processors on the market for mobile devices, such as the Apple A18 and Snapdragon 8 Elite, used in some of the latest Apple and Samsung devices, are being produced in 3nm. There were rumors before the launch of the A18 that Apple could be one of the first to adopt the 2nm processor, but that didn’t turn out to be the case. At the same time, rumors suggest that Samsung is getting closer to releasing its stable 2nm technology.

According to SamMobile, Samsung Foundry has been making significant progress in producing its 2nm technology and may be close to unveiling it in the market. Rumors point to the future Galaxy S26 lineup possibly featuring the new Exynos 2600, which will be produced in 2nm and will have several advantages over current models.

It’s worth noting that Samsung abandoned the Exynos processors in the Galaxy S25 due to performance issues and high error rates in production. As a result, all models in the lineup feature Qualcomm chips. However, recent rumors suggest that Exynos may make a comeback in 2026 with the future generation of devices in the lineup.

Samsung Foundry has been facing problems lately, with considerable losses due to poor chip production results and new technologies. There are even rumors that Samsung may consider exporting Exynos production to TSMC, leveraging their technologies.

Alongside these rumors, there are also those coming from Apple. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that Apple is also in the race to create 2nm technology and that there may be news in future Apple product lines. Rumors point to the possibility of the iPhone 18 being one of the first to feature Apple’s 2nm chips, expected to arrive in the second half of 2026.

Finally, there’s Qualcomm, which, although still behind Samsung and Apple in the race for 2nm, has been making significant progress. Rumors suggest that the future generation of Qualcomm processors, specifically the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 3, may come with integrated 2nm architecture. The release of this model is scheduled for 2026, and it’s quite likely that the first devices featuring it will arrive around the same time.
