Meet Your New Best Friend: The nVidia App

If you’re rocking an NVIDIA GPU in your PC or laptop, the NVIDIA app is about to become your go-to companion. Whether you’re diving into the latest gaming adventure or creating stunning content, this app makes it a breeze to keep your system updated with the latest GeForce Game Ready and NVIDIA Studio Drivers. Plus, it’s your one-stop shop for discovering and installing essential NVIDIA applications like GeForce NOW and NVIDIA Broadcast.

In a fresh update, the NVIDIA app has leveled up its game. Now, you can take full advantage of the DLSS overrides to fine-tune your image quality or supercharge performance with DLSS Super Resolution. But that’s not all—Display Scaling and Display Color settings have made their way over from the NVIDIA Control Panel, giving you a more modern experience and inching closer to unifying all NVIDIA GPU features in one slick application.

And here’s the Cherry on top: through the Discover section, you can now download Project G-Assist, an experimental AI assistant that runs locally on your Geforce RTX AI desktop. Think of it as your personal tech guru, helping you manage everything from game settings to system performance—all with a simple voice or text command. Curious to learn more? Let’s dive in!

So, what exactly is Project G-Assist? It’s powered by a specially tuned Small Language Model (SLM) that can interpret your natural language instructions and tap into various NVIDIA and third-party PC APIs to get things done. Want to boost your gaming performance? G-Assist can provide real-time diagnostics and recommendations to tackle system bottlenecks, enhance power efficiency, and even overclock your GPU.

Imagine being able to chart and export performance metrics like FPS, Latency, and GPU temperatures with just a few clicks. Plus, it can answer questions about your hardware or NVIDIA software. And if you have compatible peripherals, G-Assist can even control them with simple commands—like adjusting fan speeds or changing RGB lighting on your Logitech G, Corsair, MSI, and Nanoleaf devices.

To get started, make sure your system meets the requirements, including having a Windows 10 or 11 operating system and a GeForce RTX 30, 40, or 50 Series GPU with at least 12 GB of VRAM. After installation, just hit Alt+G to activate G-Assist. When you ask it for help, your GeForce RTX GPU will temporarily allocate some of its power to AI inference. Just a heads up—if you’re in the middle of an intense gaming session, you might notice a brief dip in performance while G-Assist does its thing.

New NVIDIA DLSS Override Available Now

The NVIDIA app just got even more exciting with the introduction of new DLSS overrides. Users can now upgrade games and apps with support for DLSS 4 featuring Multi Frame Generation and enhanced AI models that ramp up performance and image quality. In the Graphics > Program Settings screen, you’ll find several options to activate:

DLSS Multi Frame Generation Override
: For GeForce RTX 50 Series users, enabling this when Frame Generation is ON in-game can work wonders.
DLSS Frame Generation Model Upgrade
: This allows RTX 40 and 50 Series users to utilize the latest DLSS model, which uses less video memory and can boost frame rates.
DLSS Transformer Model Upgrade
: For all GeForce RTX users, this upgrade enhances DLSS Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, and DLAA when these features are ON in-game.
DLAA & Ultra Performance Modes
: Activate these modes in games lacking native support when Super Resolution is ON.

Now, you can also customize resolution scaling between 33% and 100% in the DLSS Override settings. This means if you want a bit more image quality without sacrificing too much performance, you can dial it in just the way you like.

Since launching DLSS 4, there’s been an explosion of support, with over 100 games and apps now on board. This makes DLSS 4 the fastest adopted NVIDIA game technology ever!

Display Scaling lets you modify how games and apps scale on your display, allowing your GPU to use hardware-accelerated integer scaling for improved image quality—especially beneficial for those pixel art games we all love.

Display Color settings give you the power to tweak your display’s color depth, contrast, and gamma, overriding the default settings for a more personalized experience.
