AMD leads the charge in the workstation market with their revolutionary Threadripper PRO processors, offering industry-leading performance and collaboration with top software manufacturers, resulting in significant productivity gains for customers.

  • Industry-leading 96 cores per processor
  • Up to 38% faster graphics performance
  • Collaboration with leading workstation software manufacturers

Leading the Charge at AMD

For the past five years, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to lead the MNC team at AMD, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. In this role, I’ve teamed up with major players like Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Supermicro to craft and promote workstations that harness the power of AMD Ryzen PRO and AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO processors. The results? Over 25 customers have already rolled out workstations powered by our Threadripper PRO processors, and they’re nothing short of revolutionary.

Unleashing the Power of Threadripper PRO

Now, if you’ve been following our journey, you probably know that the AMD Threadripper PRO CPU boasts an industry-leading 96 cores per processor. But here’s a little nugget you might not have heard: every model in the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000WX-Series offers single-threaded frequencies exceeding 5 GHz. This means you get a no-compromise architecture that excels in both lightly threaded and multithreaded applications. Pretty impressive, right?

But wait, there’s more! When it comes to GPU-centric workloads, our Threadripper PRO processors are game-changers. If you pair the same professional graphics card with an AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO versus a competitor’s processor, you’ll see up to 38% faster graphics performance. That’s right—up to 29% faster GPU compute performance and the same for GPU AI performance. Who wouldn’t want that kind of boost?

Collaboration is Key

One of the coolest things about AMD is our commitment to collaboration. We work closely with leading workstation software manufacturers to fine-tune their applications for the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO architecture. Think about heavy hitters like 3ds Max, AutoCAD, Inventor, and Maya—these tools are essential for industries ranging from media and entertainment to engineering and manufacturing.

Recently, IDC released a whitepaper titled “The Most Intensive of Workloads Call for Workstations,” which dives into the unique challenges of the workstation market and highlights the success of our Ryzen Threadripper PRO Series processors. Author Linn Huang points out that AMD has expanded its workstation portfolio while also capturing a larger market share. In fact, he notes that AMD processors topped the charts in shipment volume for premium 12-core and higher workstations in 2022 and 2023. That’s a significant achievement!

Real-World Impact

The report shares some fascinating insights into how our customers have experienced the transition to AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO processors. Jon Carr, the technical director at Respawn Entertainment, which worked on the video game Jedi Survivor, said it best: “The boon to development that AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO processors had for us honestly can’t be overstated. It’s very empowering to our team and the whole entire project.” Can you imagine the ripple effect of such a boost across an entire development cycle?

The report also highlights how crucial the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO processor was for Pixomondo’s work on Star Trek: Discovery, along with its significance in academic settings. If you’re curious about how artists, programmers, and educators are leveraging these CPUs for mission-critical tasks, this whitepaper is a must-read.

A Thriving Partnership

Respawn Entertainment and Pixomondo are just two of the 70 customers that have partnered with AMD to share their success stories. In my time leading this team, I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with award-winning visual effects developers, game creators, automotive manufacturers, architects, and healthcare innovators. It’s been inspiring to witness their journeys and share their stories.

What keeps our customers coming back for more? It’s all about the productivity gains. When they’re running high-performance workstation workloads—think rendering, light baking, manufacturing simulation, or software compilation—the results are staggering. A workstation powered by an AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO processor can complete tasks in as little as 33 minutes that would take a competitor’s processor a full hour. That’s nearly double the productivity. Who wouldn’t want to work smarter, not harder?

In the ever-evolving landscape of technology, AMD is proud to be at the forefront, empowering creators and innovators to push the boundaries of what’s possible.
