Noctua, a manufacturer of cooling solutions, has launched its latest innovation in the form of the NH-L12Sx77 low-profile CPU cooler. Designed specifically for compact Small Form Factor systems, this cooler offers a winning combination of power, efficiency, and silence. Building upon the success of its predecessor, the NH-L12S, the NH-L12Sx77 brings improved cooling performance and enhanced compatibility with motherboards and RAM.
The CEO of Noctua, Roland Mossig, explains the motivation behind the development of the NH-L12Sx77: “Our NH-L12S has been widely embraced by users seeking compact builds in cases like the Fractal Design Terra or Louqe RAW S1. However, its height of 70 mm limited compatibility with taller motherboard components and RAM. We recognized that many of these cases have a bit of extra space available, and that’s where the NH-L12Sx77 comes in. By utilizing that extra space, we were able to enhance compatibility and deliver even better cooling performance, making it an ideal choice for powerful gaming or productivity setups.”
One of the key improvements in the NH-L12Sx77 is the inclusion of six heatpipes instead of four, providing greater headroom for handling higher heat-loads. This is particularly beneficial when dealing with today’s high-end CPUs that feature aggressive turboboost modes, as compact cases can pose a challenge in terms of heat dissipation. In addition to improved performance, the NH-L12Sx77 also offers enhanced compatibility with motherboards and RAM modules. The taller construction of the x77 version allows for increased clearance, accommodating larger components such as heatsinks and shrouds.
Similar to its predecessor, the NH-L12Sx77 features a fan preinstalled underneath the fin stack, directing airflow upwards. This configuration is particularly advantageous in compact cases that have a perforated panel above the cooler. By expelling hot air directly, rather than allowing it to accumulate inside the case, efficient cooling is achieved. Furthermore, this setup eliminates the noise caused by turbulence that often occurs when fans draw in air through perforated panels.
With a height of 77 mm, the NH-L12Sx77 is a perfect fit for popular cases such as Fractal Design’s Terra (when utilizing the maximum space setting for the CPU cooler), SilverStone’s Milo ML12, and Louqe’s RAW S1 chassis. It also caters to many other cases that cannot accommodate larger low-profile Coolers like the NH-C14S or NH-D9L.
The NH-L12Sx77 is priced at EUR 84.90 / USD 74.90 and promises to deliver exceptional cooling performance and compatibility. For more detailed information about this impressive CPU cooler, visit Noctua’s official product page.

Technology Explained
CPU: The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is the brain of a computer, responsible for executing instructions and performing calculations. It is the most important component of a computer system, as it is responsible for controlling all other components. CPUs are used in a wide range of applications, from desktop computers to mobile devices, gaming consoles, and even supercomputers. CPUs are used to process data, execute instructions, and control the flow of information within a computer system. They are also used to control the input and output of data, as well as to store and retrieve data from memory. CPUs are essential for the functioning of any computer system, and their applications in the computer industry are vast.
