The Core i7-15700K, also known as the Core Ultra 7, features 20 cores and 20 threads. This CPU tile consists of 8 P-Cores and 12 E-Cores, with a base frequency of 2.3 GHz. Additionally, it lacks AVX-512 support and certain mitigations for vulnerabilities like Spectre V1, V2, and Speculative Store Bypass. On the other hand, the Core i9-15900K, or the Core Ultra 9, is a powerhouse with 24 cores and 24 threads. Similar to the i7-15700K, it consists of 8 P-cores and 16 E-cores. The CPU operates at a base clock of 3GHz and is paired with 32GB of DDR5 memory. This processor also lacks hyper-threading but offers impressive performance capabilities.
One interesting aspect to note is the fabrication process of these processors. Initially thought to be based on Intel’s 20A node, recent rumors suggest that the high-end desktop and mobile dies will be fabricated on TSMC’s N3B (3nm) process. Only lower-end 6+8 dies will utilize Intel’s 20A node. Additionally, the iGPU will be fabricated on TSMC’s 4nm (N4P) process, leaving the IO die as the sole Intel tile.
Overall, Intel’s Core Ultra 2 processors bring significant improvements in terms of core count and performance.
