Valiant Hearts: Coming Home and Valiant Hearts: The Collection have made their debut on multiple gaming platforms, including XBOX, Playstation, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Ubisoft Connect. Developed by Ubisoft Montpellier in collaboration with Old Skull Games, Valiant Hearts: The Great War is the first installment of this duology, immersing players in the harrowing experiences of five characters during World War I.
The game follows the stories of Karl, a German soldier who was expelled from France; Emile, his father-in-law who has been drafted into the French army; Freddie, an American volunteer in the French Foreign Legion; Anna, a French combat nurse; and Walt, a loyal canine companion who aids players in accessing restricted areas. Valiant Hearts: Coming Home, previously available exclusively on Netflix as a mobile game, continues the gripping narrative of World War I with four interconnected stories.
In Valiant Hearts: Coming Home, players will join James, a member of the historic Harlem Hellfighters, as he searches for his older Brother Freddie. Anna returns to her work as a nurse caring for the wounded, while Ernst takes on the role of a German diver, and George becomes a British aviator. Once again, players can rely on the assistance of Walt the dog to solve puzzles and explore the game’s immersive world.
Music also plays a significant role in Valiant Hearts: Coming Home, as it pays homage to the Harlem Hellfighters’ contribution to introducing jazz music to Europe. The game features a jazz soundtrack by Jason Moran, which can be enjoyed on various music streaming platforms.
Ubisoft Da Nang, known for its work on mobile titles, took on the task of bringing Valiant Hearts: Coming Home to PC and consoles. This decision was driven by the desire to fulfill the requests of the dedicated player community and reach a wider audience. Additionally, Ubisoft Da Nang aimed to create the Valiant Hearts: The Collection bundle, allowing players to delve into both captivating stories.
“We had to pave our own way, venturing into unexplored territory,” says Nhi Ho, associate producer at Ubisoft Da Nang. “On the quality assurance front, this involved meticulous testing and adaptation to meet the specific requirements of each console.” Van Nguyen, a QC tester at Ubisoft Da Nang, adds, “Working with a diverse cast of characters from different cultural backgrounds was one of the highlights of the project. Ensuring their portrayal aligns with their historical context required extensive research, sensitivity, and attention to detail to ensure respectful and accurate representation.”
Valiant Hearts: Coming Home and Valiant Hearts: The Collection can be purchased from the Ubisoft Store for Xbox Series X|S, XBOX One, PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Ubisoft Connect. Both titles are also available as separate entities for subscribers of Ubisoft+ Premium.
