The developers at thatgamecompany have crafted a serene and captivating world where players can connect with one another in meaningful ways. As a Child of the Light, equipped with a magical cape, you’ll explore a vast open-world above the clouds and encounter fellow adventurers. This year marks the fifth anniversary of Sky, and it’s astonishing to see how much it has evolved and flourished with the support of its dedicated community. The future holds countless exciting adventures and celebrations, with plans to bring them to life in 2024 and beyond. While we can’t reveal all the details in one blog post, we’re thrilled to offer a glimpse of what’s on the horizon, with more to come in the coming months.

To commemorate this milestone, Sky: Children of the Light is embracing every platform. Early Access on Steam is a significant moment for the game, allowing the team to refine and enhance the PC experience. And to celebrate, there will be something special for players on all platforms. Here are just a few highlights:

Companion Cube Prop: Steam PC and Steam Deck">Steam Deck players can discover a unique item in the Aviary event shop—the Companion Cube. This coveted item can be unlocked for 50 Candles and will be permanently available in the event shop.

Cosmetic Pack Celebrating TGC Games: On April 10th, the Journey Pack will be released for all platforms. Previously exclusive to Playstation, this pack includes a cape and hood inspired by the iconic red outfit worn by the Journey traveler. It also features a mask that grants your avatar a separate Journey-inspired voice when worn. The Journey Pack will be available in the game menu shop for $24.99 and will remain accessible even after the PC launch festivities conclude.

Double Hearts & Treasure Candle Light Bonanza: As a token of gratitude for the incredible support received last year, Sky is offering extra Hearts and Treasure Candles for a week starting April 10th. During this period, every Heart gift or partial Heart gift sent to friends will be automatically doubled. Additionally, Treasure Candles will be scattered across the realms, providing ample opportunities to gather Light. But be cautious—fire hazards are a real concern!

Special Traveling Spirit: Adding to the excitement, a new Traveling Spirit named Dancing Performer will make an appearance. This Spirit won the Traveling Spirit Community Vote by a landslide and has packed their bags with outfit items, a lute, and dance moves to teach Sky kids. Dancing Performer will visit after the Steam Early Access launch, so mark your calendars for the weekend of April 25th!

With Sky: Children of the Light entering Early Access on PC, Steam players will have access to the full version of the game. This special period allows for the implementation of Steam PC features and ensures a polished experience. Expect features like Steam friends integration, achievements, and support for Remote Play. The team is also working on enhancing game graphics with HDR and VRR support, and they eagerly await player feedback to make the PC experience exceptional.

Now is the perfect time to prepare for the upcoming adventure. If you’re currently a PC Demo or Beta player, please note that there will be a temporary blackout period from April 1st to the 10th as the engineers make final preparations. Regardless of your platform, take this opportunity to familiarize yourself with Spirit locations, hone your Dark Dragon dodging skills, and perhaps even tackle a Prophecy Trial or two to become an expert guide. Prepare to welcome the new moths into your realm and show them the wonders that Sky has in store!

For those planning to play on PC or Steam Deck, don’t forget to bind your Sky account to your Steam account. Simply log into Sky on a mobile device and navigate to the settings menu to link your accounts. Additionally, make sure to wishlist Sky on the Steam page to receive automatic notifications when Early Access launches.

Lastly, a heartfelt thank you goes out to all the PC beta testers and demo players. Your invaluable reports and contributions have played a significant role in getting us to where we are today. The team is eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new flock of players on April 10th, ready to embark on this magical journey through the skies.

VRR: Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) is a technology primarily used in displays, such as computer monitors and televisions, to improve the viewing experience, especially for gamers. VRR synchronizes the refresh rate of the display with the frame rate of the content being shown. VRR technologies, like AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-Sync (for PC monitors), and HDMI VRR or VRR through software updates (for TVs and gaming consoles), allow the display to adapt its refresh rate dynamically to match the frame rate of the content. For example, if a game is running at 45 frames per second (fps), the display will adjust its refresh rate to 45Hz, eliminating tearing and reducing stuttering.
