LG Electronics will showcase its advanced smart home AI agent at CES 2024, featuring robotic, AI, and multi-modal technologies to enhance daily life and bring their "Zero Labor Home" vision to reality.
- Advanced 'two-legged' wheel design for independent movement and expression of emotions
- Multi-modal AI technology for understanding context and actively communicating with users
- Versatility and scalability, functioning as a mobile smart home hub and offering various features such as pet monitoring and energy conservation
LG Electronics is set to showcase its innovative Smart Home Artificial Intelligence (AI) agent at CES 2024. This intelligent agent is equipped with robotic, AI, and multi-modal technologies that enable it to navigate, learn, comprehend, and engage in complex conversations. Acting as a home manager and companion, LG’s smart life solution aims to enhance users’ daily lives and bring the company’s “Zero Labor Home” vision to reality.
One of the standout features of LG’s smart home AI agent is its advanced ‘two-legged’ wheel design, which allows it to move independently around the house. With articulated leg joints, the device can not only verbally interact with users but also express emotions through its movements. The inclusion of multi-modal AI technology, combining voice and image recognition with natural language processing, enables the AI agent to understand context, intentions, and actively communicate with users.
Functioning as a mobile smart home hub, this AI agent connects and controls various smart home appliances and IoT devices. Thanks to LG’s collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, the AI agent is powered by the Qualcomm Robotics RB5 Platform, enabling powerful on-device AI features like face and user recognition. Equipped with a built-in camera, speaker, and sensors, it gathers real-time environmental data such as temperature, humidity, and indoor air quality. LG’s advanced AI technologies analyze this data, continuously learning and combining it with external information. Furthermore, the AI agent can even act as a pet monitor and security guard, allowing users to remotely care for their pets and receive alerts for any unusual activity.
The LG smart home AI agent offers exceptional versatility and scalability. It can autonomously patrol the house when no one is present, moving from room to room and sending notifications to the user’s smartphone if it detects an open window or lights left on. Additionally, it can conserve energy by connecting with a smart outlet and turning off unused devices throughout the house.
When the user returns home, the AI agent greets them at the front door, analyzing their voice and facial expressions to discern their emotions. It then selects music or other content to suit their mood and assists with daily tasks such as providing transportation details, weather updates, personal schedules, or reminders to take medications.
With its active hub features, LG aims to liberate users from the burden of household chores and establish itself as a dominant player in the smart home market. According to Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company, the smart home AI agent combines autonomous mobility and AI technologies with advanced communication capabilities and services to free customers from household chores. LG’s goal as a smart life solution company is to help customers experience a smarter, more enjoyable life at home.
Those attending CES 2024 from January 9-12 can witness LG’s latest smart life solutions, including the smart home AI agent, at the company’s booth (#16008, Las Vegas Convention Center).
