Intel is gearing up to release its 15th Gen Arrow Lake CPUs, set to debut by late 2024. These processors are already in the testing phase at Intel’s labs and are expected to utilize the 2nm-class 20A process node, making them more advanced than most of TSMC’s 3nm-class products.
However, there seems to be some confusion regarding the launch dates. While the 20A/2nm node is projected to be ready for mass production in the first half of 2024, the actual launch is scheduled for the second half of the year.
Considering that Intel’s 14th Gen Meteor Lake processors are set to arrive in December, it seems unlikely that the 15th Gen Arrow Lake desktop family will roll out in early 2024. Arrow Lake, being the “Tock” to Meteor Lake, will utilize the 20A (2nm) process node for its compute die, which consists of the Lion Cove “P” and Skymont “R” cores.
Alongside Arrow Lake, Intel plans to launch Lunar Lake in the first half of 2024. Lunar Lake will cater to the ultra-low power mobility space and will feature a next-gen NPU (Neural Processing Unit) for accelerating AI and neural networks. This new lineup will succeed Lakefield and is expected to be suitable for devices such as ultrabooks, convertibles, and Tablets larger than 14 inches.
Following Arrow Lake, Intel has Panther Lake in the pipeline. Panther Lake will adopt the Intel 18A process and is scheduled for mass production in the first quarter of 2024. This lineup, along with the Clearwater Forest cloud chips, will be mobility-centric and may not be available for desktop use. However, Intel plans to introduce an Arrow Lake-S Refresh as a substitute, offering up to 40 cores (8P + 32E).
On the server front, Intel has already started shipping Emerald Rapids to clients, with Granite Rapids-SP planned for release in the second half of 2024 or early 2025. These server processors, Sierra and Granite, are expected to feature significantly higher core counts, which could help boost Average Selling Prices (ASPs) after a period of slower growth in the data center market.
Intel’s upcoming 15th Gen Arrow Lake CPUs promise to deliver performance with their advanced manufacturing technology. While the launch dates may be a bit unclear, it’s evident that Intel is pushing the boundaries of chip technology to stay competitive in the ever-evolving market. With exciting developments in both the desktop and server segments, Intel is poised to make a significant impact in the coming years.
