Intel is offering a special promotion for its 14th Gen Core series processors. For a limited time, customers who purchase these processors through Newegg will receive a free copy of Ghostrunner 2. This offer is currently exclusive to Newegg, but it is possible that other retailers may be included in the future.

Ghostrunner 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to the popular 2020 game. It features fast-paced, parkour-style action from a first-person perspective. The game supports advanced upscaling technologies such as DLSS 3, FSR 2, and Intel XeSS.

It’s important to note that this promotion only applies to the latest Intel desktop CPU series. Older models, such as the 13th and 12th Gen processors, are not eligible.

The promotion began on October 16 and will run until January 15, 2024. Game codes can be redeemed until February 29. This extended period may indicate that Intel has plans to release non-K series processors for the 14th Gen lineup after CES 2024.

Ghostrunner 2 will officially launch on October 26th, but gamers can already try out a demo version on Steam.

Technology Explained

CPU: The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is the brain of a computer, responsible for executing instructions and performing calculations. It is the most important component of a computer system, as it is responsible for controlling all other components. CPUs are used in a wide range of applications, from desktop computers to mobile devices, gaming consoles, and even supercomputers. CPUs are used to process data, execute instructions, and control the flow of information within a computer system. They are also used to control the input and output of data, as well as to store and retrieve data from memory. CPUs are essential for the functioning of any computer system, and their applications in the computer industry are vast.

FSR: AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) is a type of rendering technique that looks to boost framerates in games and enable quality high-resolution gaming. It is an software upscaling technology, designed to improve the performance of games without loss of image quality and graphical detail. It works by rendering frames at a lower resolution and then using an open-source spatial upscaling algorithm to make the game look as though it's running at a higher resolution13. It is different from Nvidia's DLSS, which uses machine learning and temporal upscaling to achieve similar results. FSR is part of AMD's FidelityFX image toolkit and does not require specific training or special-purpose logic within the GPU. AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) scales across a broad spectrum of new and older products, including integrated graphics, and is optimized for AMD RDNA and AMD RDNA 2 architecture-based Radeon RX 6000 and RX 5000 Series graphics cards. FSR is also supported on select NVIDIA graphics cards.
