Geekbench introduces Intel Core i5-14600K: Astounding 5.7 GHz Overclocking Achieved

October 3, 2023 by our News Team

Intel's 14th Gen Core series is set to launch on October 16th, with the Core i5-14600K CPU offering a higher maximum frequency out of the box and improved single-core and multi-threaded performance when overclocked.

  • Intel promises a higher maximum frequency out of the box, reaching up to 5.3 GHz.
  • Core i5-14600K scored 2819/2779 in single-core tests and recorded 16666/16707 points in multi-core tests at stock settings.
  • Core i7 CPU will be at least 8% and 18% faster than its Core i5 counterpart when both are overclocked.

Intel’s highly anticipated Raptor Lake Refresh CPU series is just around the corner, and as the launch date approaches, more leaked benchmarks are surfacing. One of the latest updates sheds light on the performance of the Core i5-14600k CPU, both in stock and overclocked settings.

The Core i5-14600K, along with its KF variant that lacks an integrated GPU, is a 14-core CPU with a configuration of 6 P-Cores and 8 E-Cores. Unlike its predecessor, there won’t be an increase in core count. However, Intel promises a higher maximum frequency out of the box, reaching up to 5.3 GHz.

Geekbench tests were conducted on two different motherboards: the Gigabyte Z790 AORUS Master X and the ASUS Z790 TUF PLUS series. The ASUS system, running at stock settings, achieved clock speeds below or equal to 5.3 GHz with 32GB DDR5-5200 memory. On the other hand, the AORUS platform utilized 48GB DDR5-7600 memory and achieved clock speeds ranging from 5.3 to 5.7 GHz, indicating some level of overclocking.

In terms of performance, the Core i5-14600K scored 2819/2779 in single-core tests and recorded 16666/16707 points in multi-core tests at stock settings. When overclocked, the scores increased to 2861 and 17974 points, respectively. This translates to a slight improvement in single-core performance and approximately an 8% boost in multi-threaded performance.

Comparing these scores to the previously leaked results of the Core i7-14700KF, which used the same system, it can be inferred that the Core i7 CPU will be at least 8% and 18% faster than its Core i5 counterpart when both are overclocked.

Intel is scheduled to officially unveil its new CPU series on October 16th. As reviewers continue to test the upcoming processors, more leaks may surface in the coming days. However, it’s worth noting that most of the 14th Gen Core CPUs have already made appearances on Geekbench during testing.

Stay tuned for further updates on Intel’s 14th Gen Core series as we approach the launch date.
