AMD has dropped the price of its top gaming CPU, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, by $100, making it a more budget-friendly alternative to Intel's latest processors.
- Offers a more budget-friendly alternative to Intel's latest Core i7/i9 processors
- Doesn't require a high-end motherboard for optimal performance
- Price drop is currently exclusive to Newegg, likely other retailers will follow suit soon
AMD has dropped the price of its top gaming CPU, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, by $100. This processor, featuring 8 cores and the latest Zen4 microarchitecture, has received high praise from reviewers as a solid gaming option. With the addition of the innovative 3D V-Cache technology, it can even deliver a significant boost in framerate for certain games.
While it may not outperform Intel’s latest Core i7/i9 processors in every game, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D offers a more budget-friendly alternative. Newegg is currently selling this CPU for $349.99, which is $100 below the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP). Walmart has also offered it for $354 in the past.
In addition to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, four other Zen4 desktop CPUs have also received discounts. However, the second-best option, a 16-core variant with 3D V-Cache, is still priced relatively high at $689.99. Gamers looking for more affordable options can consider the 8-core Ryzen 7700X without 3D V-Cache or the 6-core Ryzen 7600X.
One advantage of the AMD 7000X3D processor is that it doesn’t require a high-end motherboard for optimal performance, making it a cost-effective choice. This allows gamers to save money by opting for a mid-range motherboard and taking advantage of the now more affordable DDR5 memory.
While the price drop for the Ryzen 7800X3D is currently exclusive to Newegg, it’s likely that other retailers will follow suit soon. This expectation is driven by the upcoming announcement of Intel’s new CPU series, which is expected to lead to price reductions in their 13th Gen Core series as well.
