AMD is gearing up to release new processors based on the Zen4 architecture. The Ryzen 8000U and Ryzen 7000G series have been spotted in shipping manifests, giving us a glimpse of what to expect.

The Ryzen 8000U APUs are designed for Laptops and are expected to have a 28W TDP. The leaked shipping record reveals three new components in development: Ryzen 8040U (Hawk Point), Ryzen 7 8840U, Ryzen 5 8540U, and Ryzen 5 PRO 8540U. These CPUs will all feature the Zen4 architecture and are likely part of the Hawk Point series, which is expected to be a revision of the Phoenix architecture.

Interestingly, there is also a shipping manifest for the Ryzen 7000G series, which will be desktop CPUs featuring Phoenix silicon. However, it appears that for now, these CPUs will only use the smaller Phoenix2 die with fewer cores. Instead of the 8 Zen4 CPU cores and 12 RDNA3 Compute Units, the smaller die will offer 6 Zen4(c) cores and up to 4 CUs.

While it’s unclear if AMD has plans to release more powerful APUs in the future, it seems likely given their track record. The upcoming Ryzen 7000G series will likely launch alongside the Ryzen 8000U series early next year.
