Western Digital, a leading provider of digital storage solutions, has announced new additions to its SanDisk brand and SanDisk Professional line. These new products are designed to meet the needs of the broadcasting, media, and entertainment industry, offering high-quality storage solutions for production-level video workflows.
One of the new products is the SanDisk Professional G-DRIVE PROJECT. This desktop hard drive solution features Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, delivering superior performance and supporting daisy-chain for up to five devices. With a capacity of up to 22 TB and read/write speeds of 260 MB/s, it can handle demanding workloads and back up mission-critical content. The G-DRIVE PROJECT is available now starting at $369.99 with a five-year limited warranty.
Another addition is the SanDisk Professional G-RAID MIRROR, which offers massive capacity of up to 44 TB (22 TB in default RAID 1). This solution is equipped with two 7200RPM Ultrastar Enterprise-class Hard Drives, providing users with peace of mind through automatic data duplication. It also features a PRO-BLADE SSD mag slot for fast offloading and editing. The G-RAID MIRROR is available for pre-order now, starting at $659.99 for 12 TB, with a five-year limited warranty.
In addition to the storage solutions, Western Digital has introduced the SanDisk PRO-CINEMA CFexpress Type B card. This memory card is designed for capturing cinema-quality 8K video without dropping frames, thanks to its minimum sustained write speeds of 1,400 MB/s. It also features a durable enclosure that can withstand drops and force, ensuring the safety of valuable footage. The PRO-CINEMA CFexpress Type B card will be available this fall, starting at $399.99 for 320 GB, with a limited lifetime warranty.
Ruben Dennenwaldt, Head of Product Marketing and Marketing Operations EU/CIS at Western Digital, highlighted the importance of these new additions in addressing the data challenges faced by creators in the production industry. With the increasing use of artificial intelligence, special effects, and the transition to higher resolutions like 8K and 12K, these high-efficiency, high-performance, and reliable solutions are essential for seamless integration into unique creative processes.
Western Digital will showcase its SanDisk brand and SanDisk Professional line at IBC2023 in Amsterdam from September 15-18. Visitors can learn more about these innovative storage solutions at booths MS24 and MS25 in Hall 8.

Technology Explained
RAID: RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) is a technology used in the computer industry to increase the performance, reliability, and storage capacity of computer systems. It works by combining multiple hard drives into a single logical unit, allowing them to be accessed as if they were a single drive. This allows for faster data access, as multiple drives can be accessed simultaneously, and for increased reliability, as data can be stored redundantly across multiple drives. RAID is commonly used in servers, workstations, and other high-performance computing systems, as well as in consumer-level storage solutions such as NAS (Network Attached Storage) devices.

SSD: A Solid State Drive (SSD) is a modern data storage device that employs flash memory technology to store data electronically. Unlike traditional hard disk drives (HDDs), SSDs have no moving parts, resulting in significantly faster read and write speeds. This leads to quicker boot times, faster application loading, and smoother overall system performance. SSDs are known for their durability, shock resistance, and energy efficiency, making them ideal for laptops, ultrabooks, and other portable devices. They come in various form factors, including 2.5-inch, M.2, and PCIe cards, and are favored for their reliability, quiet operation, and reduced heat generation
