IP54
IP54 refers to an Ingress Protection (IP) rating for electronic devices, particularly those like smartphones, speakers, or other gadgets. The IP rating indicates the device’s level of protection against the intrusion of solid objects (first digit) and liquids (second digit).
In the case of IP54:
– The “5” in the first digit means the device is protected against dust to a degree that it won’t interfere with its normal operation.
– The “4” in the second digit indicates that the device is protected against splashing water from any direction, but it is not fully waterproof or submersible.
In practical terms, an IP54-rated device can handle minor exposure to dust and light splashes of water, but it’s not suitable for heavy rain or immersion in water.
