A Tough Decision for Cyan
Hey there, Cyan friends and family. We’re reaching out with some difficult news today, and we want to be upfront about what’s happening. After much consideration, we’ve made the tough decision to reduce our overall staff size, which means we’ll be saying goodbye to twelve incredibly talented team members—about half of our crew—by the end of March.
Navigating Choppy Waters
Let’s be honest: the gaming industry has been a wild ride lately, and we’re feeling the pressure. As we weigh the future health of our studio against the immediate challenges of game development in 2025, it’s clear that we’re in a tricky spot. Over the past year, we’ve been open and transparent with our team about the challenges we face, and while the news of layoffs wasn’t a total shock, it’s still heartbreaking for all of us involved.
Supporting Our Team
For those affected, we’ve done our best to cushion the blow with severance packages. But here’s the thing: if you’re a fellow developer on the lookout for world-class talent, we’d love for you to reach out. There’s some amazing skill and creativity in the team that’s parting ways with us, and we want to see them land on their feet.
Looking Ahead
Right now, our top priority is securing financing for our next project and stabilizing the studio. We’ve been around for a long time, and while we’ve faced tough times before, we’re committed to weathering this storm. Our sincere hope is to keep creating the unique experiences that only Cyan can deliver.
Gratitude for Our Community
As always, we’re incredibly grateful for the love and support from our amazing player community. Your encouragement means the world to us during this challenging time. Thank you for being part of our journey, and here’s to brighter days ahead!
Sincerely,
Cyan Leadership
