Google is expanding its gaming products on the Google Play Games platform, introducing badges to indicate game adaptability and making improvements to the app, with plans to expand to more systems and leave beta by the end of the year.
- More Android games will be available on PCs
- Introduction of "badges" to indicate game adaptability
- Expansion of Google Play Games to new systems and leaving beta phase
Google is expanding its gaming products on the Google Play Games platform, allowing users to access games on different systems, including PCs. Just days before the Game Developer Conference (GDC), Google confirmed that more Android games will soon be available on PCs. While developers have the option to remove their titles from PC, Google will be releasing more games for these systems through Google Play Games.
To help users determine if a game is optimized for their platform of choice, Google will introduce “badges” indicating the game’s adaptability. Games that provide a seamless experience on smartphones and PCs will receive an “optimized” badge. On the other hand, games that may have minor flaws or only meet the minimum requirements will receive a “playable” badge. With these badges, Google aims to provide users with a clear understanding of what they’re downloading before they dive into the game.
Google also has plans to expand the availability of Google Play Games to even more systems, including new AMD architectures for desktop and Laptops. By the end of the year, users can expect a variety of PC-optimized games, such as Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, Sonic Rumble, and ODIN: VALHALLA RISING.
In addition to game releases, Google is making improvements to the Google Play Games app itself. One notable update is the introduction of a new sidebar, allowing players to quickly perform various actions and settings within the system. This means players can easily adjust controls without having to exit the game.
Lastly, Google announced that the Play Games platform will be leaving its beta phase by the end of the year. Although the platform has been available since 2021, it has retained its beta title until now.
Exciting times lie ahead for gamers as Google expands its gaming products, making it easier to enjoy their favorite games across different platforms. With the introduction of badges and improvements to the Google Play Games app, users can look forward to a smoother gaming experience. So, get ready to level up and explore the world of gaming on Google Play Games!
