A Heartfelt Farewell to Ted Price
Before diving into the bittersweet announcement of Ted Price’s retirement, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude. A huge thank you to everyone who has reached out to Insomniac during the devastating fires affecting the Los Angeles area. The impact on our community has been profound, and we’re committed to supporting each other and staying in close contact with Sony Interactive Entertainment to ensure everyone has the resources they need during this tough time.
Now, onto the news that’s been weighing on our hearts: Ted Price, our fearless leader and dear friend, is retiring from Insomniac Games. Typing those words feels just as emotional as it does to think about it. For those of us who have had the privilege of working closely with Ted—Chad, Jen, and myself—it’s hard to imagine our studio without his guidance. Ted isn’t just a boss; he’s a mentor who has inspired us all to grow. His legacy isn’t just in the games we’ve created but also in how we lead and support one another.
Stepping Into Big Shoes
Ted’s shoes are, let’s be honest, canoe-sized. While none of us can—or should—try to replicate his unique style, we will carry his lessons with us. You can bet that during our decision-making processes, we’ll often ask ourselves, “What would Ted do?” That’s a guiding principle we’ll hold dear as we navigate this transition.
Now, you might be wondering, “Who are the new co-studio heads, and what’s next for Insomniac?” Let’s introduce ourselves and share our vision for the future of the studio.
Meet Ryan Schneider
I’m Ryan Schneider, and my journey with Insomniac began back in the Playstation 2 era. I started in marketing and communications and quickly found my niche as the studio’s first community director. Over the years, I’ve worn many hats, from Head of Franchise Strategy to my most recent role as Head of Brand & Leadership Strategy. My focus has always been on ensuring that our external communications reflect our internal values. When I’m not at work, you’ll find me gaming with my family—recent favorites include Astro Bot and Lego Horizon Adventures. Oh, and I’m a cycling enthusiast too!
Introducing Jen Huang
Hi there! I’m Jen Huang, and I joined Insomniac eight years ago as CFO and Head of Finance. From day one, this studio captured my heart. My role involves supporting our development teams across all titles, overseeing everything from project planning to co-development partnerships. Since I started, we’ve shipped 12 games, and I can’t wait to see what unforgettable experiences we’ll create next. Outside the studio, I’m passionate about supporting our local libraries and enjoy gaming with my kids. This past holiday, I dove into Astro Bot and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered—what a blast!
Say Hello to Chad Dezern
And I’m Chad Dezern. My Insomniac journey kicked off in 1998 after I was blown away by the charm of Spyro The Dragon. Over the years, I’ve contributed to five generations of PlayStation as an Environment Artist, Art Director, and most recently, as Head of Creative. My mission is to support our creative teams in ensuring that every game we release carries that unique Insomniac magic. I’ve learned that collaboration is key—great ideas flourish when talented people challenge each other. I’m thrilled to work alongside Ryan and Jen to keep that spirit alive while also evolving our studio for the future.
What’s Next for Insomniac?
So, what does all this mean for you, our players and fans? Rest assured, we’re committed to making the games you love while also taking care of the incredible people who create them. Our vision is to make a positive and lasting impact on the gaming community, and we’re ready to carry that torch forward.
Ted Price has been an industry legend, launching iconic franchises like Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet & Clank, and Resistance: Fall of Man. His influence has shaped not just Insomniac but the entire gaming landscape. As we step into this new chapter, we’re excited to build on the foundation he laid and ensure that Insomniac continues to thrive for years to come.
Thanks for being part of our journey, and here’s to the future!
