Although TikTok is currently inaccessible in the US, it may not be for long. As we know, Donald Trump will be entering the White House on January 20th, and it is expected that one of his first orders of business will be to unblock the video-sharing platform. He has previously expressed plans to do so, and now new information has emerged from his social media network about his potential approach.

In a message posted on Truth Social, Trump stated that he is open to discussing ways to resolve the TikTok issue. As a first step, he plans to grant a 90-day extension for TikTok to operate in the US. This would allow the platform to become available again in the region, and users would still be able to enjoy its features.

Trump’s ultimate goal is to reach a joint decision with TikTok to address any outstanding concerns. One idea he has floated is the creation of a joint venture between TikTok and an American company, with each holding a 50% stake.

It’s worth noting that this idea stems from a measure passed by the US Congress in April, which required ByteDance to sell its ownership stake in TikTok to an American entity. Failure to comply would have resulted in the platform being blocked due to national security concerns – a measure that has now been implemented.

Trump’s message aligns with the message that TikTok has been displaying to its blocked users, hinting at the possibility of the platform returning to full functionality once Trump assumes office.
