Google is expanding the accessibility of its SynthID technology, which is designed to mark content created by AI. Previously only available for content created using Google’s own AI, SynthID is now open source, allowing any project to utilize it. The purpose of SynthID is to create a watermarking system that quickly identifies content generated by AI tools. This enables the swift identification of artificially created content.

Watermarking systems have become crucial for AI training models, as they help prevent the spread of potentially misleading content. Some countries and states are considering making content marking tools mandatory, given the increasing prevalence of AI technology in our daily lives.

Google introduced SynthID in August of this year.
