WhatsApp introduces new features for its Status feature, including the ability to mention up to five people and react to other users' Status, making it more similar to Instagram and enhancing the user experience.
- Enhances user experience by making Status feature more similar to Instagram
- Allows for private mentions, ensuring sensitive information is not accidentally shared
- Gives users control over who can mention them in their Status, potentially enhancing privacy
WhatsApp is rolling out some new features that will make its Status feature more similar to Instagram. The platform has just received a new set of updates that will significantly enhance the user experience.
Firstly, Status now allows users to mention up to five people. The mentioned individuals can also directly share the Status on their own accounts, similar to Instagram’s functionality. Furthermore, these mentions will be done privately, ensuring that sensitive information is not accidentally shared. The mentioned individuals will receive notifications accordingly.
Currently, it is unclear whether users will have control over who can mention them in their Status. This measure could potentially enhance privacy and prevent accounts from being tagged in spam.
Another exciting addition is the ability for users to react to other people’s Status. Users can now express their liking for a Status, and this reaction will be visible to the person who posted it. These likes are private and will not be displayed publicly on the platform.
These updates will be available to WhatsApp users on both Android and iOS devices in the coming days.
