Acer has just launched its latest addition to the Chromebook Plus lineup, the Acer Chromebook Plus 514 (CB514-4H/T). This new model offers a compact and durable design, along with powerful performance that takes full advantage of ChromeOS’s AI-powered capabilities.
According to James Lin, General Manager of Notebooks at Acer Inc., the new Chromebook Plus 514 delivers a combination of portability, a 14-inch Full HD display, and performance-driven technology that allows users to make the most of the exciting features offered by Chromebook Plus.
The Chromebook Plus 514 is part of Acer’s commitment to enhancing Chromebook performance and experiences. It boasts improved hardware designs, upgraded displays and cameras, and powerful productivity, creativity, and multimedia capabilities. Like its predecessors, this new model empowers users to do more.
Under the hood, the Acer Chromebook Plus 514 is powered by an Intel Core i3-N305 processor and 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. This configuration provides users with twice the speed, memory, and storage, ensuring responsive performance and efficient multitasking. Whether you’re using built-in AI-powered apps like Google Docs and Photos, streaming shows in full HD, or editing videos with LumaFusion, the Chromebook Plus 514 delivers.
The 14-inch Full HD display features IPS technology, 300-nit brightness, and wide viewing angles. This ensures that everything on the screen is vibrant, crisp, and clear. The display is perfect for taking advantage of AI-powered graphic design and photo editing tools like Magic Eraser in Google Photos, as well as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Express powered by Adobe Firefly generative AI. Additionally, the display is available in touch- and non-touch models with an anti-glare coating for easy viewing even in bright-light conditions.
Staying connected is a breeze with the Chromebook Plus 514’s fast and reliable Wi-Fi 6E and conferencing tools. The laptop features a 1080p webcam with Temporal Noise Reduction (TNR) for noise cancellation, along with AI-powered tools that enhance clarity, lighting, and background blur. The webcam also adjusts exposure based on lighting conditions and features a Blue Glass lens for high-quality imagery in low-light conditions. Privacy is also a priority, with a physical shutter for the webcam and the ability to mute the dual microphones and turn off the camera with a single click. Dual upward-firing speakers with DTS Audio provide exceptional sound quality.
Storage is not an issue with configurations of the Chromebook Plus 514 offering up to 512 GB of storage. This ensures that users can store their important creations locally. And when an internet connection is not available, File sync on Chromebook Plus keeps Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides accessible offline.
The Acer Chromebook Plus 514 is designed to be portable yet durable, making it perfect for users on the go. It weighs only 1.43 kg (3.15 lb), measures 20.5 mm (0.81 inches) thick, and is U.S. MIL-STD 810H compliant, meaning it can withstand daily wear and tear. It also offers Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity and a wide range of ports, including dual USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C ports for USB charging.
Acer is committed to making a positive impact on the environment, and the Chromebook Plus 514 reflects this commitment. It supports Acer’s Earthion mission and boasts several EPEAT registrations. It also features eco-friendly elements such as the OceanGlass touchpad made from ocean-bound plastic waste. The laptop contains recycled materials, sustainable packaging, and meets Energy Star certification with its energy-efficient design.
For schools, the Acer Chromebook Plus 514 is available with Chrome Education Upgrade, providing seamless device management. This upgrade helps administrators manage devices at scale, offering admin policies to manage all Chromebook Plus features. The Chromebook Plus 514 is ideal for educators, staff, and higher education students, enabling offline productivity with tools like Screencast, Adobe Express, and File Sync. Administrators have powerful controls to maximize productivity, streamline device usage, and deploy security configurations to keep their school community safe.
For businesses, the Chromebook Plus 514 is available with Chrome Enterprise Upgrade, unlocking the built-in business capabilities of ChromeOS. IT departments and their workforce can onboard quickly with zero-touch enrollment, simplify user experiences with easy-to-manage device policies, and ensure data and user safety with features like data controls and remote device wipe. With 24/7 IT Admin support and troubleshooting assistance, managing updates, insight reports, and technical issues is a breeze.
The Acer Chromebook Plus 514 (CB514-4H/T) will be available in North America in May starting at USD 399.99 and in EMEA in June starting at EUR 479.
