- Expanded collaboration with Synopsys to accelerate ecosystem enablement of MIPS RISC-V IP
- Ability to run Linux and other high-level operating systems, making it suitable for a wide range of applications
- Opportunity to showcase innovative RISC-V products at embedded world 2024
MIPS, a important developer of efficient and customizable IP compute cores, has announced an expanded collaboration with Synopsys to accelerate the ecosystem enablement of MIPS RISC-V IP. This collaboration aims to empower customers to innovate in compute without constraints. MIPS will be showcasing its RISC-V IP Core technology at Embedded World 2024, utilizing Synopsys’ ImperasFPM Fast Processor Models and ImperasPDK Processor Development Kit software simulation tools.
The star of the demo at embedded world will be the MIPS RISC-V P8700 IP, a versatile processor available in scalable multicore configurations. It boasts the capability to run Linux and other high-level operating systems, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, both automotive and non-automotive. One of the key advantages for customers using Synopsys’ fast simulation solution is the ability to kickstart software development for the MIPS P8700 and I8500 early on.
Drew Barbier, Vice President of Products at MIPS, expressed his satisfaction with the strengthened relationship with Synopsys and the opportunity to showcase their innovative RISC-V products at embedded world. He emphasized the significance of the collaboration in demonstrating their multithreading capabilities and enabling customers to leverage the industry-leading ImperasFPM RISC-V models and fast simulation tools for product development.
As part of their presence at embedded world 2024, MIPS will feature a “Synopsys Simulation Model Demonstration” in their booth and the RISC-V International Pavilion. This demo will highlight real-time system deployments and the delivery of RISC-V tools that accelerate compute innovation.
Simon Davidmann, Vice President of Engineering in the Systems Design Group at Synopsys, emphasized the importance of high-quality processor models in the RISC-V ecosystem for early software development. He praised the collaboration with MIPS for enabling customers to expedite their RISC-V software development and functional verification of advanced SoCs using Synopsys’ high-performance ImperasFPM models.
With nearly two decades of experience and expertise in the field, MIPS has established itself as a leader in deep technical knowledge and intellectual property. Building on this foundation, MIPS aims to provide customers with the freedom to create unique products for specific workloads using their industry-leading cores.
The P8700 and I8500 development kits are currently available for purchase from MIPS, offering customers the opportunity to explore and leverage the power of these innovative processors.
